ESPN Personalities (Past or Present) You'd Love To Hate (or Maybe Not), Part One

Jake LeonardApr 1, 2009

NOTE: The following list of people will cover both ESPN television and radio.

Present: Jonathan Coachman

"The Coach," a nine-year veteran color commentator, reporter, and interviewer for World Wrestling Entertainment, left the organization to join ESPN in 2008 to be an anchor on ESPN News.

Coachman was color commentator for the Friday Night Smackdown brand, although it was previously on Thursday night. His somewhat mixed attitude, colorful words, run-ins with WWE wrestlers, and involvement in the WWE's major events, such as the Diva Search Contest and a brief stint in the WWE-maintained and short-lived eXtreme Football League.

Past: Rush Limbaugh

Who would have known this fat conservative lard would talk about sports? Limbaugh, an avid sports fan and a known critic of liberal Keith Olbermann and libertarian Neal Boortz, had a brief stint on NFL Countdown.

Past: Keith Olbermann

The current host of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann and co-host of Football Night of America was an anchor for five years on SportsCenter.

The known liberal left SportsCenter in 1997 to pursue other interests, including brief stints with NBC News and other networks before joining MSNBC in 2003 to host primetime cable TV's highest rated news show over Bill O'Reilly. Olbermann joined Football Night of America in 2007 and still co-hosts the show today.

Present: Chris Berman

Soon to reach his 30th year of tenure with ESPN this fall (and he's joined with Dick Vitale for college basketball and Bob Ley from SportsCenter), Berman has been the driving force behind ESPN since their introduction of the network in 1979.

The long-time veteran has covered baseball games and the NFL Draft and has anchored on SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown, and NFL Primetime. His recent appearances have been in the Nurtisystem commercials.

Present: Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg

The dynamic duo of ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike In The Morning has been a driving force on weekday mornings as the lead-in show to The Herd with Colin Cowherd. Golic has recently been in a Nutrisystem commercial.

Greenberg covers the weekday evening SportsCenter and was a host of sister network ABC's former quiz show Duel.

Part Two coming soon...
