Interactive Tournament Final Article
The Interactive Tournament is a concept that came to mind around Christmas. I didn't know if the writers would like the concept, but I have received some great feedback about the tournament.
It's been three months and a half since the first Interactive Tournament was published so let's take a look back at what happened.
The first tournament featured the lightweights. Sean Sherk defeated Tyson Griffin in the semifinals while Kenny Florian defeated Frankie Edgar.
The finals was a much anticipated rematch between Sean Sherk and Kenny Florian, but the votes still went towards Sherk, who won the lightweight Interactive Tournament.
It was then time for the UFC light-heavyweights and Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida made it to the finals with respective wins over Forrest Griffin and Wanderlei Silva. In a surprising final fight, Rampage Jackson edged out Lyoto Machida by a couple of votes to win the tournament.
In what was the most unpredictable Interactive Tournament yet, Frank Mir defeated Gabriel Gonzaga and Randy Couture defeated "Minautoro" Nogueira in the semifinals of the heavyweight Interactive Tournament.
Frank Mir won the finals to be crowned the winner.
With Shane Carwin's recent victory over Gabriel Gonzaga, it would be interesting to see if he would get further in the tournament. Remember that Carwin was eliminated in the first round by Frank Mir.
The welterweights were up for elimination in the fourth Interactive Tournament. The semifinals featured Thiago Alves eliminating Mike Swick and Jon Fitch defeating his partner Josh Koscheck.
The rematch between Fitch and Alves in the finals did not go like the first fight as Alves picked up more votes to win over Jon Fitch.
Last week, the middleweights were featured in one of the toughest Interactive Tournament fights. Dan Henderson defeated Yushin Okami and Demian Maia was eliminated by Nate "The Great" Marquardt.
The finals featured two of the top middleweights in the world as Henderson and Marquardt did battle, well the results are in and...Nate Marquardt reigns supreme over Dan Henderson with an impressive and dominant 12-6 vote.
I just wanted to thank everybody that made this concept work. Several writers gave their votes each and every week and kept this concept alive, for that I thank you. I will maybe do this again someday who knows.
On another note, I wanted to talk about the writer's tournament. The article caused a lot of controversy in the MMA community, and I have decided to end the concept for now.
I have been working hard on a series of articles that I will bring to you very soon and don't have much time to restart the writer's tournament.
With that said, the MMA writer's tournament will be back bigger and better then before. After I publish my series of articles, I may start working on that and making it better so that everything goes perfectly this time.
