The End of a Killer in the Sports World
Recently I exchanged comments with a writer who wondered if athletes should be allowed to take steroids in the future. I had to disagree with him by pointing out that though these drugs might bring victory now, they could have harmful effects later in life.
The case I specifically cited was that of the late Lyle Alzado, who played in the NFL, mostly for the Broncos and the Raiders. Some of his confession which I vividly remember watching, is on YouTube, and I would make it MANDATORY watching for anyone ever considering taking steroids; the man is in tears and clearly wasting away as he recounts the hell he is going through.
As I read the writer's article, he mentioned that his mother was recently recovering from heart by-pass surgery and I recalled what I had recently been through. And I thought if he can write an article advocating drug use, than so can I. I am going to climb on my hobby horse for this article, only mine is a much more positive message than his.
What do John Unitas, Bobby Ackles, Ron Lancanster, Alexei Cherepanov, Sergei Grinkov, J. V. Cain, Jim Fixx, Larry Gordon, Chuck Hughes, Stan Mauldin, DaveSparks, Dave Waymer, Vladimir Dimitrijevic, Stan Docking, Marcio Dos Santos, Alan Groves, Rogerio Oliveira, George Smith, David Di Tommasso, Harry Agganis, John McSherry, Lee Weyer, Jason Collier, Hank Gathers, Kenyon Jones, Ian Folley, Scott Mason, Frank Hayes, Stephane Morin, Terry Sawchuk, Denny Hulme, Elmo Langley, Gerry Marshall, Harry Melling, Dean Roper, Gary Albright, Davey Boy Smith, Ray Traylor, Bruce Guy, and Adam Watene (this is an incomplete list) have in common?
All were members of the sports world and all died of some form of coronary heart disease.
Coronary heart disease is the most deadly killer across North America and it can strike at any time, at any age.
Last year, I had my worst nightmare come true; I was diagnosed with both main branches of heart disease, coronary heart disease and heart failure. After feeling ill with what I thought was gerd, I went for an examination, where it was disclosed I had a heart problem.
Further tests of an echo cardio-gram, chest x-ray, and heart imaging detected a possible blockage somewhere. I was scheduled for angiogram to find the location and size of the blockage a month and half later.
Coronary heart disease usually means two alternatives; open heart surgery, involving a by-pass operation, or the insertion of a stent, or death.
Most of the time, I did not feel anything directly and I was able to make light of my condition, but when I felt something, it could be scary. Sometimes I wondered if I was eating my last meal or whether I would wake up in the morning. And since it was a month and half away before my angiogram, never mind a life-saving operation, I wondered if I would die before anything was done.
Meanwhile, I thought, "It's 2008, surely by now doctors know the composition of heart plaque."
I went on the Internet and did some research and sure enough, there were websites that told me what heart plaque was composed of. I then had a follow-up thought, "If they know what it's made of, surely somebody can develop something that can remove it." I decided to do more searching.
To my astonishment, I discovered that there were several products for sale that claimed they could remove heart plaque. It was just what I was looking for but it sounded too good to be true.
I thought, "How come I haven't been told about this before by a doctor? They are just telling me what I want to hear. This is probably quack stuff."
But it was the only alternative to open heart surgery or death so I continued to research it. I spent a month trying to find out as much as I could and in the end decided to try a mild version that cost $150.
Why did I decide to try it?
1. I did not fall within the restrictions of use. No child, no pregnant woman, nobody with either liver or kidney disease can use these kind of remedies.
2. The worst side effect you can get is only diarrhea.
3. To my astonishment, I discovered there are clinics all over North America, including here in Toronto, that practice this kind of healing.
4. Lots of prominent doctors, most notably double Nobel prize winner Linus Pauling, advocate this kind of remedy.
5. The positive reactions of people on Internet forums who have taken one of these remedies and were now feeling better.
6. The behavior and arguments of the remedy's opponents.
In the latter case, these are quite strenuous and intimidating. They use scare tactics about disobeying doctors. They warn of the perils of taking "untested drugs." One website was specifically set up to denounce Linus Pauling for advocating this kind of a remedy.
Yet through all their negative reaction, there emerged one fact: While there was no test to prove that these remedies worked, there was none that proved that they did NOT work.
The company that made the remedy I chose was helpful, too. They figured that anyone who wants their product must be in bad shape so they sent it to me by express delivery and I got it in four days, two weeks before my scheduled angiogram.
The one I got has a six week program. You take it in intervals, six times a day for the first two weeks, then five times for the next two weeks, and finally four times for the last two weeks. All you do is mix fourteen drops in two ounces of distilled water.
When I took my first dose, I felt nothing initially but after a while I felt a strange sweeping motion starting at the top of my head going down through my body to the bottom of my toes. But I still did not feel any better. I took the remaining five doses at the prescribed intervals and then went to bed.
But when I woke up four and half hours later, there had been an astonishing change. I could feel blood flow all around my heart area that I had not felt before. I felt more energized too. It was then that I started to believe that this stuff was doing the things it said it could do.
I continued to faithfully take it as instructed and when I had my angiogram, two weeks later, no trace of any blockage could be found that merited an operation.
So what is this stuff? Why does it work? Why is it not being prescribed by doctors?
These remedies are called chelation remedies. Chelation means to "detoxify."
Before explaining how it works, there is a difference between arteries and capillaries, and veins. The latter has only two layers while the first two have three in which substances gather. That is why coronary heart disease and strokes never occur in veins.
Heart plaque is made up of two things, minerals and cholesterol. Cholesterol by itself cannot cause coronary heart disease. But through eating, breathing, and other contact, the body absorbs minerals which stick to the walls of the arteries. Cholesterol cannot stick to the arteries, but it does stick to the minerals, forming heart plaque.
Every person and animal with blood has some amount of heart plaque, but it is only fatal if it builds up too large in an area to prevent blood flow.
A chelation remedy is an acid that sweeps through the circulatory system dissolving the minerals that cling to the walls of the arteries and capillaries. When the minerals are dissolved, the cholesterol goes with it.
Some people have a horrible vision of large "chunks" that are flowing through the passageways causing further blockages, but everybody who has seen acid work, knows that it dissolves minerals into tiny invisible particles that can easily be removed. When the heart plaque is dissolved, it is converted by the kidneys into urine and safely removed.
Another huge advantage of chelation over surgery is that surgery only removes the heart plaque from the area that is being operated on. Chelation gets rid of plaque from all parts of the body so it prevents strokes from occurring too.
So why isn't this stuff being prescribed and recognized? The main culprits are the FDA and Health Canada.
The FDA will test "created" drugs but will not test anything it classifies as a "natural remedy." For some reason these things are regarded on the level of "hillbilly medicine." So chelation remedies are eventually classified as "alternative medicine," falling into a category that includes acupuncture, transcendental meditation, and even prayer.
So these life-saving remedies never get tested, and as long as they are not cleared for public use, no "regular" doctor can mention or prescribe them. In fact, when I asked my doctor about them, he instantly dismissed them.
Still worse is the behaviour of organizations like the Ontario and American Heart Associations. After I completed my chelation period, I went to the Ontario Heart Association to find out their opinion on chelation.
As I mentioned in my last article, they took the usual, cowardly Canadian way out and pretended they had scarcely heard of this stuff (when in fact there are chelation clinics in Toronto) and referred me to the American Heart Association.
They also gave me a booklet, which, while listing excellent descriptions of every type of heart disease and its treatment, also contained scare tactics warning of dire consequences if somebody disobeys a doctor or tries an untested substance.
When I checked the website of the American Heart Association, it was even worse. They admitted to knowing about chelation and having interviewed people who have taken these remedies. They admitted that these people were indeed feeling better but rather than take up their cause and start lobbying the FDA for a formal test, they gave the ridiculous conclusion that these people were feeling better due to "life-style changes". How a "life-style change" managed to drive heart plaque out of a person's body is never explained.
The consequences of not testing these remedies are far-reaching. All over North America, people continue to die needlessly or get expensive and unnecessary surgery like by-passes or stents. Here in Canada, hospitals are clogged with a huge backlog of surgeries. Some people are dying while waiting in line. If all coronary heart disease detected could be eliminated by a chelation remedy, much of the backlog could be eliminated and doctors and hospitals could be freed up for other things.
In America, things must be worse because there is no national health insurance plan in place to cover the crushing costs of heart surgery.
Fortunately, the increasing evidence of success has finally forced the FDA to conduct a formal test of the remedy I took, starting last year and now this year. Hopefully the truth will come out at last.
The most bitter thing for me in all this was that I had to become my own doctor. Instead of getting better because of the Health Care System, I got better in spite of it. I found myself fighting two enemies; the disease, and the Health Care System.
I had to defy doctors, scaremongers, heart associations, specialists, experts, Health Canada, and the FDA. It wasn't easy to do.
And it still continues for me. Unfortunately, the angiogram also detected that I had the other main branch of heart disease, heart failure, which is the heart itself.
Again I got opposition from the Health Care System. The specialist refused to answer any of my questions about the disease and sneered at me when I did research about it on the Internet. Incredibly, I just recently found out both from a book I ordered on the Internet and from other Internet sources that the stuff he prescribed for me actually HARMS my heart.
When I found it wasn't working, I stopped it immediately and have since switched to another natural supplement that gives hope of slowing down the disease and even reversing it.
So why am I writing this article?
1. It gives me a chance to tell people about the experience I've been through.
2. It gives me a chance to tell people who find themselves in the tight spot I was in that there are alternatives to surgery and death. If I can save some lives so much the better. But please do NOT take my word for it. Do your own investigating and researching and come to your own conclusion.
3. I hope it gives courage to those who have accepted the conclusion of a doctor or "expert" that "nothing can be done" about their coronary heart condition except surgery, to do some research, and if they agree with me that chelation is a viable option, have their courage to fly in the face of opposition and try it.
4. I hope that if others try it and get a good result, they will speak out against the deceit that has been going on, warn others who are in a similar difficulty, and put pressure on organizations like the FDA, Health Canada, and heart associations to start testing or lobbying for formal tests so that this killer can be eliminated. Providing that no one has the limitations I have listed, there is no reason that anybody need die of a heart attack or stroke on this planet if they are diagnosed correctly in time.
5. It gives me a chance to publicly thank America for saving my life. It was America that has created these remedies. Mine was made in Minnesota. So much for me being branded "anti-American."
Up in Canada, and being outsiders, we were more aware of the lies and deceit of the Bush regime. We are also aware that many of the institutions like Congress, the judiciary, and the self-censored press failed to stand up him and let him get away with what he did. Contrast that with how they all went after Nixon over thirty-five years ago, merely because he wire-tapped a political opponent.
The same kind of deceit about heart disease is being perpetrated in both Canada and the United States.
It is well known that Bush has lost America a lot of friends and good-will abroad. He was very unpopular in Canada. President Obama has recently condemned the prisons in which prisoners were tortured, and said they have cost America much good will abroad.
But a cure created in America for heart attacks and strokes, two of the worst killers around the world, just might get some of that good-will back.
