Stephen Jackson Needs to Shut Up, Start Playing Better, and Stop Complaining
Stephen Jackson is a player who wears his emotions on his sleeve. That has hurt him this year, especially with 16 technical fouls.
Most of the time, Jackson is too busy complaining to an official about a lack of a whistle that he gets himself into trouble.
Jackson was definitely lucky that he did not pick up his 17th technical against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Throughout the game, he was constantly complaining to the officials about foul calls against him, even when replays showed that it was definitely a foul against Jackson.
This is an issue with Jackson, because most of the time he is too busy arguing with an official that he doesn't get back on defense, which allows for easy transition baskets for opposing teams.
Another issue with Jackson is when something frustrates him—like when he loses the ball because of a great defensive effort by an opposing player—he just takes a stupid foul.
In the game against Philadelphia, he lost the ball to Louis Williams and just grabbed him and because the Warriors were over the limit, Williams got free throws.
Another such play was Jackson going for a steal from behind with a couple minutes left in the game. Again, a silly play by Jackson resulted in free throws for the 76ers.
Luckily for the Warriors, they were able to play through Jackson's mistake because with the two free throws it got the 76ers to under double digits and it gave them a little momentum.
Jackson will always be an emotional player and will do a lot of things that are great, and other times he'll do things that are head scratching.
One thing for sure though is that Jackson is going to have to start playing smarter. He can still have the emotions, but he needs to be able to bottle those emotions up and instead of doing something negative, he needs to concentrate on doing something positive.
For example if he feels like he was fouled don't automatically turn and complain to the official, get back down the court and play defense and get a stop.
