Jay Cutler Formally Asks for Trade: New Twist in Denver Drama (UPDATED)
He's got weapons like Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall, a whole new coaching staff, and a rebuilt defense. But even those things aren't satisfying Jay Cutler, and he wants out of the Mile-High City.
According to several news sources, including ESPN, NFL Network, and The New York Times, the Pro-Bowl quarterback has formally asked his current team for a trade.
Cutler is also expected to miss the voluntary team meeting today.

This latest report comes weeks after new Broncos' coach Josh McDaniels let it leak to the media that he was attempting to trade Denver's young star for former Patriot Matt Cassel. Obviously, the deal fell when Cassel was sent to the Chiefs—but Cutler was outraged when he found out.
Coach and quarterback had a meeting Saturday which, according to Cutler, didn't go well. ESPN reported that the meeting ended with the two "exchanging words" and no reconciliation.
"I went in there with every intention of solving the issue, being a Bronco, moving forward as a Bronco," Cutler told ESPN.
"We weren't in there but about 20 minutes, [McDaniels] did most of the talking and as far as I'm concerned, he made it clear he wants his own guy. He admitted he wanted Matt Cassel because he said he has raised him up from the ground as a quarterback.
"He said he wasn't sorry about it. He made it clear that he could still entertain trading me because, as he put it, he'll do whatever he feels is in the best interest of the organization."
Cutler would also tell ESPN's Chris Mortenson that he felt "antagonized" by his new coach and that, to him, it was "clear they didn't want to fix things."
Owner Pat Bowlen, who has owned the Broncos for over 25 years, was upset over the meeting.
"I'm very disappointed," he said Sunday. "I'm disappointed in the whole picture, not just disappointed that we might lose our star quarterback."
Now it seems that's exactly what will happen. The Detroit Free Press and Denver Post both report that Cutler would like to be traded to either the Chicago Bears or the Tennessee Titans.
The Denver Broncos, to my knowledge, have not confirmed any of this.
UPDATE: Pro Football Talk, as well as our own Sayre Beginger both report that Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, is now in talks with the Denver Broncos for a new contract.
According to Rotoworld.com, it's "becoming more and more obvious that Cook is the engine driving Cutler's righteous indignation.
More information is sure to come out, and when it does this piece will once again be updated.
This has been another edition of Denver Drama: The Jay Cutler Series.
When will it end?
