One and Done Fantasy March Madness Strategy Session
Do you really want to win the One and Done March Madness Challenge at www.FantasySportsMadness.com and a Nintendo Wii?? This is probably your first time playing so make sure you are aware of the following rules and keep these strategies in mind. Good luck!
Rules
Each weekend of the tournament is grouped into 3 rounds (Round 64 and 32 = Rd 1, Sweet 16 and Elite 8 = Rd 2, and Final and Championship game = Rd 3. Each week, you pick a new lineup of any players still remaining in the tournament but you can only use a player once (8 players 1st round, 6 in the 2nd, and 4 in the 3rd ). Get fantasy points based on your player’s stats and so the more points he puts up and if his team plays in both games in a round, the better for you. The owner in the league with the most total fantasy points at the end of the tournament wins the grand prize.

Research
www.Fantasysportsmadness.com has all the info you need to be prepared to choose your roster as you’ll need to know the following:
- Top scorers- Review the cheat sheet posted of all the top fantasy scorers on each March Madness team during the regular season here
- Injuries – Make sure no one you’re thinking of picking has a serious injury by checking the injury report as getting zero points from a player will doom your chances of winning.
Strategy
- Diversification – Be sure to pay attention what region the player’s teams are in. You want to avoid your own guys’ teams playing each other in the 1st game of a round and knowing one of them won’t play the 2nd game of the round. Also make sure you leave yourself open to having top scorers available in the final 3rd round.
- Points matter – At the end of the day, you need players who will put up huge points for you. Therefore look to choose the top scorers on a team instead of a bench player and be very confident that his team will play 2 games in a round.
- Give yourself the biggest player pool – Every round, you should be thinking which teams have a great chance of winning the 1st game of the week but losing the 2nd game. This is optimal as you would then have the most choice of players to choose from in the later rounds.
- When to use the studs – there are certain names such as Blake Griffin from Oklahoma that everyone knows should put up big stats. Should you use him right away in round 1 and guaranteed to get big points out of him or hope that Oklahoma makes it the round of 16 and Final 4 and use him then? This is the hardest decision to make and the key strategy element of One and Done.
- Don’t ignore the lower seeds - In the first round, teams on a lower seed have a chance to win the first game and play a second Therefore, a high scorer on one of these teams would be a great pick as most likely, his team won’t advance to the One and Done 2nd or 3rd round, giving you the biggest pool of players available.
