The Only Goal You Need to See This Weekend
So many choices. Only one Set Piece Goal of the Weekend.
Let's start with the candidates first.
Radamel Falcao scored yet again—this time a neat, angled volley—as Atletico Madrid won again and kept pace with Barcelona in La Liga. Chelsea's Juan Mata curled in a dazzling free kick against Manchester United that was doubly impressive because everyone in the building knew it was coming.

In Holland, Ninos Gouriye produced a jaw-dropping chipped finish for Heracles Almelo against Heerenveen. In Romania, Petrolul Ploiesti's Gheorghe Grozav redirected a long pass into the net with a cheeky outside-of-the-foot flick.
And in Russia, Rubin Kazan's Alan Kasaev stunned Anzhi Makhachkala with an unstoppable rocket into the top corner.
Overhead-kick goals abounded, too. In Argentina, Nacho Scocco lived up to his awesome name with an overhead strike against Arsenal de Sarandi. Even Emile Heskey got in on the action on this goal-fest weekend with an over-the-shoulder kick down under for Newcastle Jets.
But for our goal of the weekend, we return to Holland, where Feyenoord pegged back Ajax thanks to a late, great goal from Graziano Pelle. The goal came in the 90th minute, by which time Ajax had been reduced to 10 men.
Pelle controlled a ball into the box with his chest, then swiveled and rifled a volley into the net. For its combination of skill, aesthetics and importance, Pelle's late turn-and-volley golazo is the Set Piece Goal of the Weekend.
Watch it above and enjoy. Then be sure to add your thoughts—and any more golazos—in the comments below.
