Manny Pacquiao Loves Salmon Kabob and I Do Too!
Last December I was watching the last installment of HBO's 24/7 for the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar De La Hoya fight and I became really inspired.
All of these HBO 24/7 episodes do a great job of hyping up both fighters and make you feel so interested and excited in the upcoming fight that you might just part with that $60 PPV fee.
But beware not to buy into the hype so much that you put money down on the wrong guy, thinking "wow HBO proved to me that my man can win."
Although HBO 24/7 is supposed to be a reality show or a documentary, it can also be rather misleading. It only shows the footage that makes for great TV, not necessarily what is actually going on behind the scenes at each fighter's camps.
Case and point; a lot of viewers who watched the HBO 24/7 Pacquiao vs De La Hoya probably saw it and said, "wow Oscar is actually taking this fight seriously, I think he is going to win."
Again, more intelligent people, who prefer to analyze things and not believe what's forced onto us through the media, can see right through the false hype.
A more painful example was when HBO 24/7 made me believe that the great Roy Jones was still young enough to ward off the constant pressure of the Welsh Dragon, Joe Calzaghe.
Personally, the biggest thing that I took away from watching the last HBO 24/7 episode was when we learned that Pacquiao's entourage take over the kitchen at the Mandalay Bay, so they can prepare his favorite meal; salmon kabobs.
To be honest with you, that was the most influential and vivid image that stayed with me from all the great HBO 24/7 episodes.
Salmon kabobs. Don't they sound so delicious and most importantly healthy?
After seeing that episode I always wanted to take over my own kitchen and make Manny Pacquiao's favorite meal.
Finally, a few days ago, I was able to accomplish this goal. I got all organic ingredients, salmon, bell peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, and sesame seeds from the local Trader Joe's grocery, and made some salmon kabobs (see picture).
You see I am what you may call a health nut. I work out and train 24/7. I try to eat healthily as much as I can. I do not smoke, do not do any drugs, and I even quit drinking any hard alcohol.
That is one of the reasons why I love the sport of boxing, because of the amount of dedication displayed by these fighters, these champions.
They train so very hard for, and eat right, and are complete health nuts for at least the duration of their training camps.
Often times I hear people say that Manny Pacquiao is their idol. Well if he is really your idol, wouldn't you be inspired to be more like him?
Wouldn't your pound for pound champion idol inspire you to get off your chubby or obese behind, and go run, and train, and be more healthy?
Wouldn't your idol inspire you to eat more healthily like him?
Well, talk is cheap. Walk the walk and smell what King J is cooking.
