🚨Sabres Force Game 7 vs. Habs

New York Islanders 3 Montreal Canadiens 2 (OT): Habs Fail Price

Goaltender Carey Price seems to has found his game again.

Price stopped 36 of 39 shots he faced tonight and was clearly showing the form seen earlier this season.

Unfortunately, his teamates couldn't find theirs as the Montreal Canadiens lost 3-2 in overtime to the New York Islanders.

The game did look promising for the Canadiens, as a team, in the first 20 minutes.

After having a goal called back early in the first period from a high stick, Tomas Plekanec netted his 19th goal of the season on the power-play at 5:04.

Six minutes later though, the Canadiens defense would be caught napping in their end with former Canadien Mark Streit assisting on rookie Mike Iggulden's first career NHL goal.

The Canadiens held a 12-7 shot advantage, with the majority of the Islander's shots coming late in the period.

As of late, the second period has been a problem for Montreal and it would prove so again tonight.

The Canadiens only had two shots in the first 15:30 of the second period, and only manage seven in total for the middle 20 minutes of play.

Streit would assist again on Frans Nielsen's power-play goal, 51 seconds into the third period.

The Canadiens struggle continued after a five-on-three power-play only saw three shots on Islanders' goaltender Yann Danis.

Tom Kostopolous was able to solve Danis after the power-play after taking a great pass from Andrei Markov and slapping in a one-timer to tie the game.

But with his team only getting seven shots on the opposing net, Price had to come up with a 17 save effort for Montreal in the third. Many were game savers late in the period, to carry his team into overtime.

Kyle Opkoso would rain on the Canadiens' netminder's parade, managing to get his own rebound to trickle under Price's pad just 24 seconds into overtime.

Danis, another former Canadien, stopped 24 of 26 shots he faced tonight for New York.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for the Canadiens and most notably Price, falling to the worst team in the league this season.

There will be little time to regroup however as the New Jersey Devils roll in to Montreal on Saturday.

And if that won't be hard enough, Devils' goaltender Martin Brodeur needs just one win to tie Patrick Roy for the all-time career wins mark.
