Dancing in March: Why March Madness is the Greatest Event in Sports
Ah, here we are. Big March. Spring Training in progress, NBA getting closer to the end of the season, and Nascar getting promotion with the recent upsets in races. However, March Madness is the greatest event to occur in sports.
There is nothing better in sports then this. Better than Daytona, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the NBA Finals? Is there anything that can compare with the four week+ extravaganza we call the Big Dance?
It is more then just the actual tournament. So many things occur before the Dance.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
March Madness is always known for the field of 64, where all these teams get the chance to prove to the sports world they are this year's National Champion. Unlike the college football version of a BCS, the champ is decided on the court.
What makes it so great is that any team can get in at any point if they get on a hot streak. The Dance is known for its tons of upsets. Why is it so hard to win the brackets on ESPN, Yahoo, and the other sport websites?
Its simple: You can't expect for any team to win any given night. Everybody reloads up for a new season, a new beginning.
Thus far, have we seen teams lose out on a potential bid as a No. 1 seed? Losses by Oklahoma and Kansas certainly fit that picture, and open up maybe a spot for a team looking for a new start to get a shot at the bid.
In these conference tourneys, we have seen so many outcomes that we wouldn't expect to hear about. We have seen Radford, Siena, East Tennessee State, and others win their conference tournaments and earn a bid to the Big Dance.
Who? These are our favorites: The Mid Majors. The little programs that make a name for themselves in the tourney, by competing with the best of the best. We all remember George Mason, the Cinderella story of making it to the Final Four, which was very unexpected heading into the tournament.
Last year, we had Davidson, a team that I frankly didn't even know the location of before this season. Led by Stephen Curry, the Wildcats made it to the Elite Eight, before losing to the eventual National Champion, Kansas Jayhawks.
We also have my favorite day of any weekend in March: Selection Sunday. What bubble teams will sneak into the tournament? Which teams got snubbed out of a spot? People say that some game don't count. If they didn't count, we would never have these bubble teams get their shot they deserve.
The field of 64 could have been expanded to the field of 128, but it would have lost its luster.
What makes the tournament so great is that out of the bubble teams or Mid Majors, there is always the David looking to slay the Goliath. Rarely do you see all four No. 1 seeds in the Final Four.
Every team is vulnerable, and one slip up costs you your entire season, and the season for a senior who was hoping to get a National Title in his final season, his dream being scorned.
Yes, we always enjoy the Red Sox winning a World Series or the Cubs finally breaking their course. We enjoyed the last two Super Bowls, two games I will never forget. Don't forget the NBA Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers last year, a rivalry renewed.
Yet, March Madness will always stay on top. The excitement, the hearts broken, the careers by some that change for the better, or the worse. The Dance is something that can't be comparable, a time that everyone enjoys.
Whether a die-hard fan of college basketball or a normal fan who every year gets the goosebumps of watching the spectacle on the court, it's a time that will always be loved by all.
People, get your popcorn ready, as once again, March Madness will prove to be the greatest sporting event each year in the world of sports.
