Is Mr. March Out Of March Madness?
Last season, Davidson guard Stephen Curry became a fan favorite by leading his Wildcats to one of the best seasons in school history, finishing in the Elite Eight for the first time since 1969.
Curry had several player of the year type performances, including dropping 33 points on Wisconsin while being guarded by one of the best defensive players in the country in Michael Flowers.
Due to his outstanding performance in the tourney, Stephen won the hearts of many neutral college basketball fans and earned the title of “Mr. March.”

This season, Curry was the nation’s leading scorer—averaging 28.6 points a game—while also improving his passing skills and numbers. Stephen started the season strong, scoring over 30 in 6 of his first 9 games and over 40 in 3 of those 6, and his production never dipped below 16 points(and he only played 18 minutes of that game).
Unfortunately, after his stellar showing in 2008, many saw Davidson as a one-man team, which means the committee already wants to vote against them as they are not known to reward a team for the performance of one player.
So the only way for the Wildcats to get in was to win the Southern Conference, and they got their chance to do so.
In the semi-finals of the Southern Conference tournament, Davidson squared off against the College of Charleston, and Stephan Curry couldn’t get it done. Curry finished with 20 points and had a terrible night shooting, going 5 for 18 (28%) from the field.
Stephen was the only starter for the Wildcats in double figures and only one other player on the roster had over 10. That performance only hurt Davidson’s chances of dancing, as it showed their inability to produce as a team.
This might be the last we see of Stephen Curry, excluding his likely trip to the NIT, so another March spectacular from Mr. March is highly unlikely.
