In a New York Minute: Terrell Owens Lands in Buffalo
I guess Drew Rosenhaus wasn't pulling a Scott Boras after all; there really were other teams who were willing to roll the dice on Mr. Owens. Well, good for you, Buffalo. You finally have a premier wide receiver to help out your talented Lee Evans.
However, I'm a little perplexed by this because how does this help you, Terrell? You are the "me-first" guy of the NFL. I mean, despite what all your former teammates have said about our wrong impressions, I still get the feeling there is some proof in the pudding because you never seem to leave any team without a flame under your backside.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Now you land in Buffalo where you will not have a premier quarterback to throw you the ball; sorry Bills fans, but Trent Edwards won't be Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb or Jeff Garcia. He's young, impressionable, and just starting to come into his own. If T.O. remains T.O., I expect him to eventually tear apart that nice young quarterback you guys have without any trouble at all.
Further, since when does a 35-year old wide receiver who is on the wrong side of greatness make a 7-9 team into an AFC Division winner? This ain't Philly and it sure ain't Dallas. T.O. won't have a Brian Westbrook or a Jason Witten to defer to when he gets double and triple covered. The Bills don't have very many offensive weapons to speak of; the lack of a tight end comes immediately to mind.
Lee Evans is a nice young wide receiver, but in five seasons he has topped the 1000 yard pinnacle only twice. And I'm confused, isn't Dick Jauron a fan of the run? Philly, Dallas and San Fran all featured pass-first offenses. That is evident from the numbers of McNabb, Romo and Garcia (who was Owen's quarterback during his time there).
Is Dick suddenly gonna switch his philosophy and fall in love with the pass? If so, does Marshawn know? Oh, that's right, he may not care since he is facing a suspension. But, still, what does this say about the Bills faith in their run game? Are they suddenly willing to put the fate of their playoff hopes in Trent Edwards arm?
Last season, Edwards passed for roughly 2,700 yards and 11 scores. Owens had ten touchdowns all by himself. Will Edwards really be exponentially better so that he can give Owens the numbers he craves without teeing off Evans?
I see a tough road ahead for the Bills next season.
There is a bright side to this signing, though, it's just one year. In my humble opinion, that's the smartest decision the Bills brass made in this situation.
