Are the Minnesota Vikings Really Flinching, Or Is It All Part of the Plan?
With two weeks of Free Agency in the books, the Vikings have gained little to no ground. Other than keeping their better free agents (scratch Pro Bowl Center Matt Birk), they've been silent. Not to mention the steep amount of dollars under the salary cap.
What gives?
As fans are just buzzing for an explanation, all of them seem to have a goal or guess why their idleness continues even with a giant pocket book. Many say they're saving up for a draft pick trade that would involve big money for a good contract.

Others say that they simply are going to hold onto this money into the season and/or use it for their stadium wishes, which is pretty doubtful in light of the fact that unless they make a winning team, the state of Minnesota will not be as inclined to pursue a stadium or any plans regarding it. (i.e. casinos, etc.)
Still, there are others that believe they're on the verge of jumping into free agency with multiple grabs simultaneously. Which is very much possible, but unlikely.
Or to those that are simply annoyed, that believe the Vikings are scared, and have been caught flat footed. Which with Childress, could be a possibility.
Which ever the answer, the Vikings remain quiet, and their only answers to disgruntled fans are re-signing their top run-blocking TE Jim Kliensasser, CB Charles Gordon, and special teams specialist Heath Farwell.
Regardless of the fact, the only other move was the trade of the fourth round pick (!?) for Sage Rosenfels. (I'm sorry, it's only a cry for help when your answer at QB only costs a fourth rounder to attain. The Vikes staff will either look like geniuses, or complete lunatics after this plays out.)
The fans of Minnesota have been dying to their day when their team would be considered a top dog, and most critics still attest that Minnesota's success this year can be traced to their talent they grabbed in Free Agency in '08. The Vikings are still considered a rising team, not the team on top of the hill as a front-runner. Not since 1998 have Minnesota fans felt such a feeling.
As a fan, I would be very displeased with the Vikes attempts this offseason...although T.J. did get Vikes fans up, they haven't really had anyone else enter Winter Park this offseason.
I wonder why that is?
