A-Rod's Life In 2009 Will Be The Worst He Could Have Ever Wished For

Old AccountMar 7, 2009

Thus far in 2009, things have been looking good for most people during these economic times. Whether our new president being elected, an exciting Super Bowl between the Steelers and the Cardinals, and all the new players in baseball finding new homes, everything should be good, right?

Try telling A-Rod that.

Last month as we all know, according to a Sports Illustrated reporter, Alex Rodriguez has taken performance-enhancing drugs while with the Texas Rangers from 2001-2003, a citing that shocked the world.

Rodriguez, who was supposed to be the savior of baseball, and help us pass the steroid era, has only made it recognize this is a huge cancer for the game, and it wont go away anytime soon.

The following week he had an exclusive interview with ESPN Senior Writer Peter Gammons. I wont tell you everything he said of course, but I will tell you A-Roid always said he was young, he was stupid.

He wants us to forget the pass, as it means nothing. He wants us to judge him the rest of his career, where it will be obvious A-Rod wont take roids with the so many tests he will have to take.

Myself, I am not a fan of the Yankees, have never been. However, A-Rod was one of the only guys I liked on the Yanks. One of the only guys to play the game the right way on the field. What I mean by that is always running out ground-balls or fly-outs, and never wanted to miss a game.

Now, A-Rod faces another tragedy in his life, this time a hip injury. An injury that A-Rod needs to pay careful attention to, if he wants to get back on the field, nonetheless, continue his goals to still prove he is passed the steroids.

Who do we believe? Rodriguez's brother said Alex plans on getting the surgery this coming Monday, one that would keep him out four months! The Yankees have said A-Rod will forgo a surgery, and try to play through the pain. For the Yankees sake, I hope your right.

Whether Yankee fans like it or not, A-Rod not in the lineup could be a playoff-less season, certainly not a World Series season like the front office asked for. All the pressure can't be put on Mark Teixeira, the newly signed first baseman.

If he does go with the surgery, is there a point in coming back? A-Rod would come no earlier then August most likely, and with probably need a week in the minors to get used to somewhat MLB pitching, he wouldnt be back until Mid-August. Is he a lost cause for this season?

Rodriguez is also hearing it from the people of The Dominican Republic, after his recent pull-out of the World Baseball Classic. Not playing for the Dominicanos last time around, not many people are happy about this.

So, where does A-Rod go from here? So many questions to be answered. If he doesnt fulfill the surgery, how will he perform with the pain in his hip?

This hasn't been a good year for A-Rod, and it may not get better anytime soon?

What do you think will happen?
