Paging Bleacher Report: This Is Why We Are Better Than One ESPN!
For about six months now I have been a writer here for BleacherReport.com, and I have loved every bit of it. Not only could I write about news in sports, but I could give my own opinion on sports too.
Heck, I don't even have to write an article. There are so many writers here that I can just comment and share my opinion with the writers here. We can have a debate, and that is fun to me.
But for as long than B/R has been around, one name has been around longer: ESPN. They call themselves the Worldwide Leader in Sports, and they have a legitimate claim to that.
They are all over the world, broadcasting many sports, and have so many people watching them. But B/R has a claim to be a leader in sports too.
We are all over the World, cover every single sport known to man, and many write here. Not only that, readers come in by the thousands to get information here that they can't get from ESPN.
A few months back I wrote an article on Christian Cage of the WWE. He was currently in another wrestling promotion, and I said it was just about set in stone that he would be leaving for the WWE.
In under a day I got 10,000 reads on it, then soon 20,000. The reason why was because this was information that you could only find in certain places. I put it on B/R, and suddenly we saw many coming in and reading it.
ESPN only covers certain sports, like football, baseball, basketball, and soccer usually. They have ESPN Deportes and ESPN U to help get the word out for other sports. They have a ticker tape to share information that they go over in the show so you don't miss anything too.
But B/R has articles in which writers not only give their opinion, but go in depth on certain sports or news as well. They bring in the stuff you don't see on ESPN, because ESPN can't put it all in because of time limits they have for the topic.
The Internet is a great place to get information and to read about certain things. It is now the most popular media in the world today, even more than TV. It is one reason why TV has gone digital.
ESPN has a lot of visits each day, but B/R gets a ton of visits too. Why is that, you may ask? Because readers know that they will get information in depth about many sports. Also, they get different perspectives that only one writer will talk about on ESPN.com.
Guys like John Clayton and others are good writers, this much is true. But are we going to get just his side of the story, or go more in depth on it? Writers here come by the thousands, which means different perspectives on sports.
It is the reason this site was founded. It has sports fans who are just as good if not better than the guys on TV—they just are not on TV.
ESPN is good, but B/R is better. You want to find breaking news, then go ahead and watch ESPN. But if you want more in depth ideas on a certain team, player, or sport, go to Bleacher Report.
ESPN can't hold a candle to it.
