Will The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pursue Jason Taylor?
With the 2009 NFL Free Agency Period underway, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been relatively quiet so far.
Other than signing running back Derrick Ward, and re-signing wide receiver Michael Clayton, the Bucs have not brought any "big" names in, even though they are $61 million under the salary cap.
However, could that change? On Monday the Washington Redskins, released defensive end Jason Taylor, after they could not reach an agreement on a new contract structure.

The Bucs could still use a Jason Taylor to help their defensive line. He could also be a good mentor for the still young Gaines Adams. With more than enough money, will Tampa pursue Taylor?
One factor in Taylor maybe coming to the Bay, is Jim Bates the new Defensive Coordinator of the Buccaneers. Bates was the one time defensive Coordinator and Interim Head Coach, for the Miami Dolphins.
Another factor could be the Bucs willingness to work with Taylor's wants. The Bucs could be willing to structure a contract for Taylor, where he does not have to show up to all the teams off-season workouts, and letting him rest to prepare more for training camp.
However, Jason Taylor is an aging veteran, and would be a tough sell to Bucs fans, after cutting fan favorite Derrick Brooks one week ago, to go in a youth movement.
I do believe the Bucs are looking at the idea of bringing Taylor in, and the Bucs could be a good fit for Taylor as well.
Ultimately, the Bucs will decide whether or not to pull the trigger on this, but if they do, they will get a decent defensive end on the down end of his career, but will have explaining to do as well.
