Rory McIlroy Must Win Deutsche Bank Championship to Complete Memorable Year
Rory McIlroy's year will be nothing more than solid if he doesn't assert his dominance at the Deutsche Bank Championship this Labor Day weekend.
Sure, McIlroy has won two tournaments already in 2012, including the PGA Championship at The Ocean Course a couple of weeks back. But, oh, how a third tournament win would elevate his year.
McIlroy is currently ranked No. 2 on the PGA money list and needs a powerful finish to the year in order to send a message to rest of the sport.
The world's best golfers are once again on display at TPC Boston this weekend and, believe it or not, two-time major winner Rory McIlroy has a lot to prove.
After fading away for more than a year after winning the U.S. Open in 2011, the Northern Ireland native is back on the golfing map and in position to prove that he can become a consistent force on the PGA Tour.
If he falls out of contention this weekend, his mighty 2012 performance will fall by the wayside.
We can't wait for McIlroy to show up at one random major tournament every year. Before he won at Kiawah in mid-August, his 2012 season was hardly coming together.
Three tournament wins including a major win at the PGA Championship would qualify the 23-year-old's year as a memorable one.
After all, even Tiger Woods has won three tournaments this year.
It's simple. McIlroy must win the Deutsche Bank Championship in Massachusetts this weekend in order to complete an unforgettable year of golf.
