TNA: What The Hell Happened Last Night?
Last night, I chose to watch TNA again, as the last two weeks of Impact were great, so of course, I went in with above average expectations for the show. Unfortunately, I, along with everybody else who watched TNA, was greatly disappointed.
The Beer Money challenge match was great. Rock and Rave did a nice job of playing the faces, and all four performers put on a great show. Of course, this was not as emotional as Petey Williams' loss last week, but it was still sad to see them go.
Also, the Main Event Mafia segment in the ring was well done, but I feel it was somewhat overshadowed by Jeff Jarrett's involvement, as he reminded us once again that he founded TNA.
Other than that, this show was brutal. First, why the hell does AJ keep attacking Booker? He wants to prove he's a legend, OK. Why not just challenge him for the title? Attacking him from behind makes AJ look like a coward and a weakling, not a legend.
Second, if the cops came in because Booker's locker room was trashed, where the hell were they when Joe held a huge knife up to Steiner? Even worse, Tenay didn't seem like anything was out of the ordinary when this happened, there was no more mention of it throughout the show, and Steiner didn't mention it while in the ring. Like, really? This was pathetic.
Third was the Kontourage tag-match. First, this match was all over the place, annoying, and hard to watch. Second, please be creative and put Rhaka Khan in the Beer Money challenge. She belongs nowhere near a wrestling ring. She can't wrestle, her promo was terrible, and she has the sleaziest look in the company. I was hoping Kong broke some ribs when she power-bombed Sojo Bolt onto her, but I guess not.
Fourth was the X-Division Title match. The match was good, but only five minutes ended up airing on TV. The other problem is that nobody seems to care about Creed and Lethal. I feel that if Creed had more exposure, he would become more popular with the crowd, but right now, they just don't seem to care.
Lethal is a talented wrestler, but creative control has to drop that damn gimmick. Sure, it worked last year when he was with Val, but it has become old and stale now.
Lastly, we have the Tenay/West exchange. This was annoying. I wonder why West couldn't have just spoken privately with Tenay about this. Instead, creative control had him bitch Tenay out in front of the fans and the home viewers. I am intrigued as to where they go from here; hopefully, it leads to West leaving, or at least working in a different part of the company. By the way, the ass-kissing line was pretty damn funny.
This was a huge step back for TNA this week, and I'm hoping they can rebound before Destination X.
