Detroit Lions Should Take Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry in April
If you are a Lions fan, executive, coach, player, or even an observer, you have to ask yourself, "Can this team get any worse?" Obviously, after an 0-16 season the answer is quite simple.
That being said, the Detroit Lions have a huge decision to make in regards to the state of the franchise in late April. Do they risk the future of the team on a quarterback in Matthew Stafford? Do they go with one of the three top offensive linemen, all who have question marks? Again, the answer is very simple.
When Detroit officials send a name to the podium on draft day, I fully expect that name to be Aaron Curry, outside linebacker from Wake Forest.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Curry is a 6'2", 254 pound outside linebacker who is considered by many experts and scouts to be the safest pick in the draft. If there has ever been such a thing as a safe pick in the draft, I honestly believe Curry is it.
The 2008 Butkus Award recipient was also a three-time All-ACC selection and 2008 All-American.
In addition to his ideal outside linebacker size, Curry ran a 4.56 second 40-yard dash, and also was a top performer at the NFL Scouting Combine in the bench press (25 reps), vertical jump (37.0"), broad jump (10'4"), and the list goes on. Suffice to say, he is a freak of nature.
While all of you die-hard Lions fans are probably reading this and thinking that an offensive lineman is the best way to go, I have to politely disagree.
Ernie Sims is a great linebacker for the Lions, there is no doubt about it. In fact, he may be the only bright spot on that entire defensive unit. If he is paired with Curry, they could be one of the more formidable linebacker duos in the entire NFL.
Curry is a Pro Bowl caliber player from day one, and the Lions probably are not going to get that from any other player.
So here is my campaign for the Lions to select Aaron Curry with the number one overall pick in April's draft. Detroit can not afford to swing and miss with this draft pick, and if Jim Schwartz has absolutely anything to say about it, I know this guy will be the pick.
