Ray Lewis: How the Baltimore Ravens are Going to Make Him Love Them
Obviously, Ray Lewis wants out of Baltimore. His comments indicate it, and those of Demarcus Ware indicate it.
But it doesn’t matter, because the Baltimore Ravens are going to make Ray Lewis love them. I’m talking Effie White “you’re gonna love me” appeal so strong, that diminishing his legend in Charm City will hurt so bad that he won’t want to walk away from such a good thing.
Because Ray Lewis will soon realize that the Ravens are the only good thing available.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Let’s say Lewis is really dreaming of playing for the Dallas Cowboys, and not just leveraging for a higher payout from the Ravens. Sadly for Lewis, the Cowboys aren’t biting. Even sadder, the guy the Cowboys are trying to make the highest paid defensive player in the NFL is the one stirring the drama in Big D.
The New York Jets don’t want him that badly, nor does any other team in the league. Surely the Oakland Raiders would’ve jumped on the bandwagon by now with some interest, right?
Instead, it’s mostly Lewis loudly rallying for a big payday that was already forthcoming from the team he needs the most. Ozzie Newsome will sit down with him this week and let him know as much. And while fans may be comforted in his return, and Lewis will be upset that he won’t get the money he knows teams can ill afford to fork over, all will seem to be poised for a legitimate Ravens run to the Super Bowl in 2009.
The Ravens will continue making their public overtures for his return, from the owner down to the players. As much as he would like for there to be a media frenzy over his desire to leave, there just won’t be one, because teams don’t get rich by being less savvy then the players they sign.
Ultimately, this is as close as Ray Lewis will get to embarrassing himself in the late stages of his career. Openly rallying to leave the city that adores him like no other and pining for cash that nobody has for him won’t ruin his legacy.
But it will make the Ravens job of affordably re-signing him that much easier.
