The Magic of The Game : Envisioning UNC and Georgetown for the Title
Take yourself back to March 29, 1982.
"Ebony and Ivory' by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder has just risen to number one, the Superdome is buzzing with Tar-Heels and Hoyas fans. Two men, facing off against one another; a flourishing rivalry between two future NBA fifty greatest.
The Superdome that housed thousands during Hurricane Katrina was also the sight of one of the most exciting college basketball games. There were the Hoyas, who hailed from the nation's capital. They came ready to play, with arguably the most dominant center in college basketball who would go on to become a future number one pick, and a coach who possessed the determination and strategy to win.

The Tar-Heels of North Carolina came draped in white and blue. Led by James Worthy and the best basketball player of all time, number 23 himself. Like so many of their future face-offs, both Jordan's and Ewing's teams played hard and kept the score close. In fact the score was so close that it all came down to a last minute shot by Michael.
A decade later and the battle had left the college game and entered into a heated eastern conference. Oh how times have changed, yet some things have ironically stayed the same. Both UNC and Georgetown are most probably going to make it deep into the tournament. As the offspring of both John Thompson and Patrick Ewing, of Georgetown, have followed in their footsteps, and UNC has reemerged as a top team, is it not time for a rematch?
Let's fast forward to this year's championship game. Imagine it, a new duet by Usher and Young Jeezy blaring through the loudspeakers in San Antonio, Texas. Picture the blue and grey uniforms of the hustling Hoyas and the blue and white of the sharp shooting Tar-Heels. Wouldn't it be amazing to see history replayed or revised? Basketball is a game in which within the history lies a sort of magic, it is about time that magic is brought back to the game.
