FIFA 13 with Kinect: Watch Your Mouth or Get Penalized for Swearing
What if your favorite sports video game heard every word you said when you were frustrated? I know mine would need thick skin.
EA Sports' takes a huge step in that direction with FIFA 13 and its Kinect integration for the Xbox 360. The game allows you to use voice commands to control your side's substitutions and teammate commands in Be a Pro mode.
But it also puts you in your place for using foul language. Yes, you read that right. If you contest a referee’s call and use colorful language to show your displeasure, it can affect the strictness in which the match is called.
FIFA 13 takes it even further as your attitude can drive a storyline in Be a Pro or in Manager Mode. It’s an interesting dynamic to add to sports video gaming and to motion controlled play.
I haven’t actually made the complete jump to this style of gaming. I generally reserve my motion-controlled experiences to fierce matches of Fruit Ninja, but this sounds interesting enough to at least give it a shot.
I’ll probably do my best Richard Pryor impersonation at every possible opportunity—just to see how some real gutter language impacts the way the game plays.
After I’ve washed my mouth out with soap, I’ll be happy to share my experiences. We’ll all have to wait, as FIFA 13 doesn’t release until September 28.
For now, check out the video for a little more insight into how FIFA 13 works with the Xbox Kinect.
