Key Names To Watch
Jordyn Wieber, United States
Wieber is already regarded as the best female gymnast in the world coming into the Games. She is just 17 years old and making her Olympics debut in London. All eyes will be focused on her from the first event through the end of the competition.
Expectations are obviously high, so she has a lot to live up to. Given Wieber's natural talent, she should have no problem in qualifying.
Sandra Izbasa, Romania
Making her second appearance in the Olympics, Izbasa is looking to defend her gold medal in the floor exercise. She is the centerpiece of a Romanian team that is one of the biggest threats to the Americans capturing gold in the team all-around competition.
Aliya Mustafina, Russia
Mustafina does come with a caveat, as she had a knee injury last year that required surgery. She is still the star of a talented Russian team, but the injury and surgery do give pause before declaring her a sure thing.
Her talent is so great that she will be a threat, particularly in qualifying, so keep an eye on her just to see how she looks.
