WWE Raw: Why Dolph Ziggler Needs to Be Repackaged with a New Edge
Dolph Ziggler sucks.
I'm not talking about Nick Nemeth, the man who portrays the character Dolph Ziggler. He’s an amazing athlete who has a ton of potential in WWE.
No, I’m talking about the character Dolph Ziggler. He sucks. He almost always loses—usually twice a week, three times if there’s a pay-per-view going on.

If Dolph is lucky, he’ll get in a good shot on a face before he outsmarts him and takes him out.
Not that long ago, he jobbed to Brodus Clay in four minutes at a pay-per-view. That’s not something fans are going to forget about overnight.
The best thing for Dolph Ziggler right now is to go away.
That may sound crazy, as he’s in one of the biggest pushes of his life right now, but it’s for the best.
He currently has the Money in the Bank contract, but the problem is, no one actually perceives him as a viable in-ring threat to Sheamus.
If Dolph went away to be repackaged, it would accomplish two things. First, we wouldn’t have to see him lose every single week before they get serious about pushing him. Second, it would create the mystery of when he'll be come back.
Instead of having to tease cashing in his briefcase over the coming weeks or months, like WWE has already done with wrestlers multiple times, Dolph could go away and leave announcers and wrestlers speculating that he could come back at any moment.
The next time fans see him they would know he means business.
Dolph doesn’t need an image overhaul. His looks are fine. His character just needs some tweaking.
Hopefully he wouldn’t stop dyeing his hair again like last time. He could just slap on a new pair of trunks, but it’s time to change one very important part of his act: Get rid of Vickie Guerrero.
Teaming with Vickie is only going to get him so far because she’s been attached to mid-carders for so long. She is often treated as a screeching or delusional joke who isn't going to bring anyone into the main event.
Vickie is entertaining; she gets great crowd heat. At this point, however, she’s not going to do anything for Dolph except hold him back.
She should definitely stay in WWE, but she should move on to someone else. There’s other new or struggling wrestlers who could use a manager. Maybe she could even manage her daughter when she debuts.
But Dolph has outgrown Vickie. It’s time for them to go their separate ways.
WWE needs Ziggler to freshen up his act. They need fans to perceive him in a new light.
Ziggler has been a mid-carder since 2006. That’s a long time for fans to see the same wrestler in relatively the same spot on a card.
WWE always puts him in the losing side of matches with Cena, Punk, Orton and Sheamus. It’s going to be hard for fans to take him seriously without him beating a top draw.
Some time away with a hot return could be a way around that.
Another big problem with Dolph’s act is the lack of believability in what he says. WWE has him talk a big game, but he never backs it up.
He’s been showing signs of improvement on the microphone, but what his character says doesn’t ring true.
He asked Jericho when the last time he won a big match was. Well, besides Money in the Bank, when was the last time Dolph won a big match?
When Dolph won Money in the Bank, he wasn’t on a roll by any means. He was losing every big match he was a part of, even most of his mid-card matches, and then stumbled his way into a title shot at Money in the Bank.
One match isn’t going to erase years of failure in the fans' minds.
Since WWE is so reluctant to have Dolph Ziggler in his current form become a big-time player, he should re-charge and take a couple months off.
It’s time for WWE to take a chance, and move Dolph up the card or accept that he’ll never make it. In his current form, it’s going to be hard to make that work.
It's in everyone's best interest for you to go away, Dolph. We’ll miss you, but it’s for the best.
