British Open 2012 Leaderboard: Tiger Woods & More Leaders Struggling in Round 4
Tiger Woods and many of the golfers in the top portion of the 2012 British Open leaderboard have struggled in Sunday's final round.
The deep bunkers around many of the greens have given players a lot of trouble, and have also been the primary reason for so many bogeys on the front nine.
Let's look at three of the top contenders who are struggling in the tournament's final round.
Tiger Woods
After five straight pars to start his final round, Tiger Woods made a triple bogey on sixth hole because it took him two shots to get out of a bunker right in front of the green.
It was a huge step back for Woods, but fortunately for him, the three players ahead of him are over par thus far. Following his triple bogey disaster, Woods birdied the next hole, but bogeyed the ninth hole to fall another stroke back.
A birdie on the 10th hole helped him climb back to four-under par and five strokes behind leader Adam Scott.
Brandt Snedeker
Brandt Snedeker started off his final round well with six straight pars but a pair of double bogeys on holes seven and eight dropped him from seven-under par to four-under par for the tournament.
With players above him making bogeys, Snedeker can earn himself a better paycheck if he can limit his mistakes on the back nine.
Graeme McDowell
Graeme McDowell went into the fourth round with a great chance to make a run at the top spot on the leaderboard but he is two-over par through 10 holes.
McDowell made four bogeys through the first 10 holes, and will need a near-perfect finish to climb back into contention.
