UFC 149: What We Learned from Ryan Jimmo vs Anthony Perosh
Ryan Jimmo needed just one punch to put out Australian veteran Anthony Perosh at UFC 149. Not a bad debut for any fighter, let alone one kicking off his UFC career so close to home.
What we'll remember about this fight:
Hmmm...let's see. The fight lasted seven seconds and contained two strikes—the first scored a knockout, the second just made sure Perosh was still out.
Jimmo tied the UFC record for the quickest knockout in the promotion's history. So I guess there's that.
What we learned about Ryan Jimmo:
It's difficult to assess a 0:07 performance, but we learned one thing during the fight—Jimmo has some serious power.
After the fight, we also learned that Jimmo possesses by far the best robot dance in UFC history.
What we learned about Anthony Perosh
Despite the gains he has made during his recent three-fight win-streak, Perosh still has difficulty avoiding damage. UFC 149 marked the fifth time in his career and the third time in his last seven contests that Perosh has been stopped by strikes.
The Aussie needs to do a better job keeping his hands high and working in head movement as he circles on the feet, or else, this result will continue to blot his record.
What's next for Jimmo:
The UFC can really go anywhere with Jimmo at this point. A James Te Huna fight would be fun.
What's next for Perosh:
He'll be back, though his performance obviously won't vault him to a main card. How about Vladimir Matyushenko?
