British Open TV Schedule 2012: Complete Television Guide for Round 4
Adam Scott carries a four shot lead into Sunday’s final round of the 141st Open Championship at Royal Lytham and St. Annes. Scott will be paired with Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, with Tiger Woods lurking in the group right behind.
The earlier start times take the unique Open Championship playoff into consideration. If there is a playoff, it is a four hole total score one that will become sudden death if it is needed.
With plenty of light in England—sunset running about 9:30 in the evening—we are guaranteed a Sunday finish unless weather becomes a huge factor.
ESPN
Mike Tirico and Paul Azinger lead the live coverage on American television. Scott Van Pelt, Curtis Strange and a cast of thousands also join ESPN’s mammoth coverage of the last day of The Open Championship. All live action will be on ESPN.
ESPN3 and WatchESPN will also carry ESPN’s coverage on line and on your phone.
6 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (ET)
3 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (PT)
ABC
If you work or have other plans for Sunday morning, then ABC will air a three hour extended highlight package in what would normally be the usual PGA Tour broadcast window. This is the same coverage as ESPN’s, just edited for time.
If there is a playoff and play runs past 3, then the live play stays on ESPN.
3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (ET)
12 p.m. – 3 p.m. (PT)
TSN
TSN will simulcast ESPN’s coverage in Canada. With an IndyCar race scheduled for 2 Eastern on TSN, it is not clear whether the conclusion would switch to TSN2 or whether the car race would switch to TSN2 if there is a playoff.
TSN Mobile and TSN.ca will be your places to go for online coverage.
6 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (ET)
3 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (PT)
BBC
Hazel Irvine hosts and Peter Alliss will be the lead caller on the BBC’s extensive coverage of the final day of the Open Championship. On top of the great crew that covers golf for the BBC, Sir Nick Faldo joins the crew this weekend for his thoughts on Adam Scott’s attempt for his first major. Viewers in the United Kingdom will have eight hours of live commercial-free coverage to enjoy.
ESPN3 and WatchESPN will stream the BBC’s coverage as it is also the World Feed.
