Attacking the Boards: Chris Paul's Domination
New Orleans 117 - Orlando 85
Chris Paul had a ridiculous night in his second, and final, game without his big man Tyson Chandler on the roster. CP3 finished with 36 PTS, 10 AST, 6 REB, 3 STL, and 1 BLK, his fifth game of the year with at least 30 points and 10 assists.
The absence of Jameer Nelson really hurt the Magic in this one as Anthony Johnson could not run with Paul for very long without getting winded, and Dwight Howard was worn out from his terrific performance from last night. Superman finished with just 12 points and a minuscule(to his standards) eight rebounds. Rashard Lewis was the high point man for the Magic with 17. Fun fact: Chris Paul had as many blocks as Dwight Howard.
Los Angeles (Lakers) 129 - Golden State 121
Surprisingly, this game was tight down to the final three minutes of the game. The Warriors gave the Lakeshow all they could handle, but the skills of Kobe Bryant came through down the stretch to notch the win.
Kobe had a complete ballgame with 30 PTS, 9 AST, 3 REB, 3 STL, and 2 BLK. Lamar Odom failed to get at least 17 rebounds in his fifth straight game, but he did score 22 points and grab seven rebounds. Pau Gasol scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds.
Every single starter for the Warriors had double-digit points. Stephen Jackson played a game high 45 minutes and played excellent defense on Kobe Bryant for about 40 of them. He finished with 24 PTS, 6 REB, 9 AST, 1 STL, and 2 BLK.
Phoenix 142 - Los Angeles (Clippers) 119
For the second straight game after firing head coach Terry Porter, the Phoenix Suns put up 140 points under new head coach Alvin Gentry. The Suns are once again the most fun team to watch in the NBA.
From Steve Nash running under the basket and kicking it to Amar’e(who isn’t going to be traded anymore) to Shaquille O’neal making a bounce pass on the run to Steve Nash, the Suns are, and have always been, a high scoring and fast-paced team.
Stoudemire had a huge game with 42 points and 11 rebounds. Steve Nash also had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Al Thorton had 33 points to lead the Clippers.
Miami 104 - Minnesota 111
Jermaine O’Neal’s debut for Miami wasn’t as pleasant as he would like, as scored 13 points and grabbing just one board. Dwayne Wade continues to be the best scorer in the league, dropping 37 points, dishing out 12 assists, and stealing the ball 4 times from the T’Wolves. Sebastian Telfair lead Minnesota with 30 points and 8 assists.
Cleveland 93 - Toronto 76
Shawn Marion’s debut in Toronto was spoiled by LeBron James. James scored 20 points and also collected nine rebounds and nine assists. J.J. Hickson, who is a nice trading piece for the Cavs, grabbed eight rebounds and scored eight points.
Marion had a strong debut for the Raptors, with 10 PTS, 6 REB, 6 AST, and 2 BLK. Point guard Jose Calderon went three-for-three from the line.
Atlanta 105 - Sacramento 100
The Hawks role players looked a little shaken up after last night’s lost to the Lakers, but Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson, and Al Horford came to play. Bibby had 29 points, Johnson had 20 points, and Horford had 18 points and 18 boards. Kevin Martin lead the Kings with 32 points and 11 rebounds in their first game without Brad Miller and John Salmons.
Memphis 90 - Portland 94
Rudy Gay lead the Grizzlies with 20 points and O.J. Mayo continued his rookie of the year campaign with 19, but it wasn’t enough to lead one of the worst teams in the NBA over the Trailblazers. Brandon Roy scored 24 and dished out 9 assists to lead Portland.
New Jersey 98 - Dallas 113
This time, the Mavs got the better end of the Devin Harris deal. Josh Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Kidd had 24, 23, and 23 points respectively. Harris scored 18 points with 7 assists and 2 steals.
Indiana 94 - Charlotte 103
Jarrett Jack scored 18 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists, but it wasn’t enough to get the Pacers over the Bobcats and Gerald Wallace’s 25 PTS, 10 REB and 7 AST.
Chicago 113 - Milwaukee 104
Luol Deng dropped 21 points with 8 rebounds in 33 minutes, but his playing time should decrease thanks to the Salmons' trade. Richard Jefferson was a stud in the loss, scoring 32 points.
Denver 101 - Philadelphia 89
Melo had a game high 26 points, and Andre Miller, who was injured during the game, scored a team high 17 for the Sixers.
