Phillies' Prospect Jiwan James Creates Buzz for Amazing Hidden Ball Catch
Jiwan James is no baseball player. He is some warlock sent by the forces of evil to confuse us with his beguiling magic show.
The Phillies prospect went to the wall to make a catch, but somehow came down with the greatest magic trick ever envisioned.
Now I have no clue.
I have absolutely no clue what I am watching here, but I will continue to squint my eyes and see if I can spot the optical illusion pulled off by the great Jiwan James.
In fact, I am in that wholly uncomfortable zone that rests between flummoxed and completely bewildered. It's a confusing state that also comes with a tad bit of vertigo.
If any of you can help me figure out if this is a catch, a ricochet into a faux catch, or just a grandiose hidden ball trick, I would greatly appreciate it.
Philly.com reports the finer details on this magical catch. It comes in the, "third inning of the R-Phils' 4-2 loss to the Baysox at FirstEnergy Stadium."
James goes back to field a blast hit by Bowie's Jonathan Schoop. When he gets to the wall, the ball seems to fly over including James' glove.
Like any great piece of art, this is but my interpretation and I welcome any of you to chime in with what you see.
The outfielder comes down and shows a ball, and the out is called.
That's where the great debate comes in, because there is just no way his right hand makes that catch. I mean...no way. Right?
Other possibilities include an extra ball rested in his back pocket, perhaps after warming up prior to the half inning starting.
Or the ball could have ricocheted off the wall into his hands. Better yet, there may in fact be a glitch in The Matrix.
Either way, we have the best brain teaser every proffered from the Minor Leagues.
