Tiger Woods: Round-by-Round British Open Predictions for Tiger
The Open Championship is upon us and, of course, everyone wants to know about Tiger Woods.
What are his chances of winning?
According to Shane Baker of CBS Sports, Woods is the favorite with 13-2 odds of winning.
But you have to factor in the weather conditions and the fact that the tournament is being played at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, which is one of the tougher places the tournament is played.
Here's a round-by-round prediction of what Woods will do.
Note: These are just my best guess for each round, so I had fun with them. The odds of me being right on what Woods does on particular holes is unlikely, but it's still fun to guess anyways.
First Round
1 of 4The first round is where Woods is going to be the strongest.
I'm predicting him to shoot a one-under 69 with birdies on four, 10 and 12, while he will bogeying six and 17.
The weather shouldn't really affect Woods, nor most of the other competitors on the first day, but scores will not be as low on the course as they have been in the past.
My guess is the leader will be at three-under at the end of the first round.
So, being two shots back, Woods will still be in the hunt.
Second Round
2 of 4Woods will make a move on the second day, eventually taking the lead for a bit.
He'll birdie two of the first five holes to drop to three-under.
By the end of the day, he'll be at five-under and in the top five on the leaderboard.
Although the weather is likely to start affecting players on the second day, Woods will show no effects of the weather.
Third Round
3 of 4The third day is going to present trouble for Woods, just like it has done many times in the past at The Open Championship.
After a second round that sees him get two birdies in the first five holes, Woods will be one-over during the first five holes.
The rest of the day will be up and down as Woods will drop out of the top-10 and possibly below 20th.
He'll finish the day at three-under, but with a good final round, could still see himself in contention for his fourth Open Championship title.
Final Round
4 of 4Woods will rebound a little bit on Sunday, but it won't be enough to overcome his bad third round.
He'll be even on the day through the first five holes, and will start to better his score by the eighth hole, where he'll get a birdie.
He'll also birdie the ninth and 12th holes, but pars will be the story for the rest of the day.
Although not where he wants to finish, Woods will be in the top-15 by the end of the tournament.
