British Open 2012 Tee Times: Complete Listing for Tiger Woods and Top Stars

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

The 141st Open Championship from Royal Lytham & St. Annes promises to thrill this July, as golf's finest competitors make landfall in England to pursue the coveted British Open title.

The first round will tee off on Thursday, July 19, as Tiger Woods and the field look to dethrone last year's champion, Darren Clarke.

Woods has won the Claret Jug three times in his illustrious career and will be gunning for a fourth this weekend.

Here we get you set with tee times for Woods and the top stars and contenders this week at Lytham & St. Annes.

Here is the complete listing of Round 1 tee times, courtesy of SkySports

Bubba Watson: 9:20 A.M.

1 of 7

Bubba Watson' only win in 2012 came at the Masters, which is not too shabby.

Watson will tee off shortly after defending champion Darren Clarke on Thursday, and he'll be grouped with Lee Westwood and Yoshinori Fujimoto.

The 33-year-old finally has a major under his belt now though, and that bodes well for his chances at surviving the cut at Lytham St. Annes.

Watson's last tournament came in June at the Travelers Championship, where he finished second.

Louis Oosthuizen: 2:21 P.M.

2 of 7

Louis Oosthuizen will tee off with Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley on Thursday.

Oosthuizen nearly won his second career major this spring at Augusta, but finished second to Bubba Watson after losing in a playoff.

Still, the 2010 Open Championship winner has one resume-building major victory already under his belt.

The South African golfer will certainly be a name to watch as the cut rolls around this July. He has conquered the British Open once already, and is more than capable of striking gold and claiming the Claret Jug for a second time.

Padraig Harrington: 2:32 P.M.

3 of 7

Padraig Harrington feels right at home at the Open Championship. Harrington is a two-time winner and last won it at Royal Birkdale in 2008.

Harrington will tee off with Rickie Fowler and amateur Manuel Trappel later on in the day on Thursday.

Despite Harrington's struggles in 2012 (no wins and just three top 10s), he has been super competitive in majors this season. Harrington finished eighth at the Masters and rallied to finish fourth at the U.S. Open in June.

If the trend continues, look for the Irish golfer to make things interesting down the stretch at Lytham St. Annes.

Darren Clarke: 9:09 A.M.

4 of 7

Last year's British Open champion, Darren Clarke will look to join Padraig Harrington and Tiger Woods as the most recent golfers to win two consecutive Open Championships in a row.

Clarke shot 5-under in 2011 to capture his first career major, but will be under pressure to succeed this time around, as he will have a mighty target on his back from the moment play tees off on Thursday.

That being said, Clarke should be considered a long shot when he tees off with Ernie Els and Zach Johnson in Round 1.

Rory McIlroy: 2:21 P.M.

5 of 7

Like Woods, Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Greenbrier Classic in his last competitive outing on the golf course.

The seventh-ranked golfer hasn't won since the Honda Classic in early March, but still boasts five top-10 finishes in 2012.

The concern for McIlroy this July at the Open Championship, however, is the fact that he has crumbled in majors this season. The 23-year-old finished 40th at the Masters and missed the cut at the U.S. Open last month.

Fans will surely be disappointed if they expect McIlroy to deliver this weekend at Lytham St. Annes.

Phil Mickelson: 2:43 P.M.

6 of 7

"Lefty" will tee off late on Thursday with Luke Donald and Geoff Ogilvy. Mickelson has never won an Open Championship, but he did finish tied for second at this event last year.

The four-time major winner will look to finally break through at the British this weekend, even though he will have to overcome a field littered with past champions.

Mickelson has five top-10 finishes and one win in 2012 heading to Lytham St. Annes, so a win on Sunday wouldn't be the most surprising result of Lefty's career.

Tiger Woods: 9:42 A.M.

7 of 7

Tiger Woods will tee off alongside Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia a little more than three hours after competition gets started on Thursday.

Woods is coming off a disappointing performance at the Greenbrier Classic two weekends ago (in which he missed the cut), but before that he conquered Congressional, winning the AT&T National to earn his third PGA win of 2012.

Although Tiger hasn't won a major tournament since the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, he has fared well at the British Open, winning three since 2000.

Woods will certainly be a contender this weekend, as his recent success makes him one of the more confident golfers at Lytham St. Annes.
