Yankee Blogs Weight In On The A-Roid Show
Alex Rodriguez gave a speech and took questions on his past steroids use in front of roughly 125 members of the media and nearly 40 Yankee players in Tampa today.
Opinions varied on whether people believed him or not. Some did, noting that he didn’t have to come clean and did. He even went so far as to admit to being a fan of Ripped Fuel back in his Seattle days.
While others aren’t as trusting, think he lied and continues to lie, but overall most have come to feel that he’s on the team for the next nine years so they’d better just accept it.
Here is a look around the Yankee blogosphere as to what people are thinking:
River Ave Blues is wondering why it all matters, calls A-Rod a future hall of famer, and said that he’s already admitted to more than any other athlete, ignoring Jose Canseco.
The Yankee Universe believes Alex and said it makes sense. They say it makes logical sense that he started in 2001 and quit in 2003 because of new penalties.
Respect Jeter’s Gangster was shocked to learn that Arod has a cousin, excited to hear how awesome Dominican pharmacies are, and nostalgic at learning the fate of Ripped Fuel.
The Pinstriped Bible called A-Rod’s answers evasive and inconsistent. He said the bottom line is that Arod is a great ballplayer and there is little evidence that steroids affect numbers in any significant way.
Pinstriped Scranton thinks A-Rod’s statement seemed prepared, but said he helped himself out even though he will still have a tough month.
Scott Proctor’s Arm doesn’t believe he didn’t know what he was taking. Called the theme of the event “Young and Stupid” and thinks A-Rod didn’t accomplish much.
The Yankee Scrolls said the interview was designed to disarm the media mostly by taking away their right to follow up questions. He also said A-Rod managed to provide more details while remaining shadowy.
My Pinstripes said the entire ordeal was spin and called his words, “hollow…from a hollow guy.”
Fowl Balls is already sick and tired of the stupid faces A-Rod makes in these situations.
Almost Perfect doesn’t buy the Young and Stupid argument, but said she mostly takes what A-Rod said at face value and gives him credit for coming forward and not pulling a Roger Clemens.
3:10 to Joba is ignoring the entire situation. Follow the link to see a picture of a cute dog.
Baseball & The Boogie Down proved that some bloggers have lives, or at least jobs, and missed out on watching it.
Well tomorrow it’s Derek Jeter’s turn to tell everyone what he thinks of the situation. Will he back A-Rod or will he let his true feelings come out? I’d bet against Jeter saying anything controversial though.
