Woman Kept Body of Dead Boyfriend Around a Year to Watch NASCAR

Gabe ZaldivarJun 3, 2018

A Michigan woman spent her time sitting next to her dead boyfriend for months so she could have someone with which to watch NASCAR.

M Live reports Linda Chase spent what may have been over a year in the same house with her deceased boyfriend.

I warn this story will be tough to take for those that are a little squeamish about dead bodies, or people actually having an affection for NASCAR.

The 72-year-old Chase claims her boyfriend Charles Williams Zigler died last December, and refutes claims by police who found the mummified body that Zigler died sometime around December of 2010.

So she was either with a dead body in her house for either a few months, or over a year. I say either option is way too long, but that's me.

Chase tries to explain away a bizarre story.

"

It's not that I'm heartless. It's just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don't know. I didn't want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me...

If you had to know Charlie, he had the best sense of humor in this whole world.

"

As for the obvious conundrums, Chase stated Zigler's body did not stink and that he died in his sleep of natural causes.

She kept him dressed, cleaned and watched NASCAR while the dead body sat in a nearby chair.

If you are completely at a loss for words, so was Chase as she tried to describe what she was thinking as she kept a corpse in her home for months, via M Live

"

I know this is horrible, but after awhile, you get... I don't know what you call it, I don't know.

"

How does one simply maintain a relationship with a dead human? It seems Zigler had a strained relationship with his small family, but they still noticed when they couldn't get a hold of him.

The New York Daily News reports Zigler's son Wally, 48, tried to get in contact with his father but Chase wouldn't let him in the house.

Chase has since admitted to also cashing the deceased's Social Security checks, making her fear jail time.

This is a story that seems perfect for an episode of The X-Files, but the reason behind it is quite clear: Chase was an extremely lonely woman who couldn't deal with loss.

That still doesn't give her any right to subject Zigler to NASCAR after he shuffled off this mortal coil.
