USC Football Recruiting: Trojans Score Twice with Falah and Rodgers Verbals
In what can only be described as a banner day for the Trojans' offensive line future, USC received verbal commitments (via Rivals) from both St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif) offensive tackle, Nico Falah and Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, MD) guard, Khaliel Rodgers.
While the Falah commitment was somewhat expected, the Rodgers verbal took most people by surprise.
Not because Rodgers isn't a very good player, because he certainly is but given the Trojans' scholarship constraints, there was speculation that USC might only take one O-linemen in this class.
So much for speculation, eh?
With the Trojans' incoming three freshmen offensive linemen (Zach Banner, Max Tuerk and Jordan Simmons), Falah and Rodgers—not to mention the two 2014 O-linemen that they have coming in next year—USC appears to be well set along the line for the foreseeable future.
In Falah, the Trojans get a Scout.com 4-star tackle who is widely thought to be the best at his position in the west.
Falah had over a dozen scholarship offers, including those from football powers like Florida, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, before choosing the Trojans over UCLA.
Meanwhile, Rodgers is a big (6'1", 323-pound) guard who can also play center if needed.
Though only rated a 3-star prospect by Scout.com, Rodgers is considered a 4-star player by both Rivals.com and ESPN.
Interestingly, Rodgers is a high school teammate of both defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow and 2015 quarterback David Sill, both USC verbal commitments.
In addition to the Trojans, Rodgers had offers from Auburn, Ohio State and West Virginia, among many others.
