NBA Free Agents 2012: Impact Players Playoff Teams Must Grab
While most of the big-name NBA free agents have already decided on a location, there remain a few impact players available that could benefit potential playoff teams next season.
No, they aren't stars, but they certainly are capable of contributing solid minutes and fitting much-needed roles for their respective teams.
Let's take a look at a few of the decent free agents left that contending teams need to consider.
O.J. Mayo
With Ray Allen, Jason Terry, Lou Williams and Eric Gordon all spoken for, the attention turns to O.J. Mayo for those teams looking for an upgrade at the shooting guard position.
Mayo can certainly score the rock, but he's also improved his defense and is no longer a liability on that end of the court. He's not the sexiest addition, but he can create his own shot, create shots for others and give a team a spark off the bench.
Mayo would be a nice addition to any playoff team.
Kris Humphries
Humphries may be best known for his short-lived marriage to Kim Kardashian, but he's become a pretty good basketball player and deserves recognition for that as well.
Last season, for the second campaign in a row, Humphries averaged a double-double—good for 13.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
Humphries probably won't come on the cheap, but for a team looking to add a strong presence on the block and upgrade in the rebounding department, he would be a nice addition.
Ramon Sessions
Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Goran Dragic and Jeremy Lin have been snatched up, which means you better turn to Sessions if you need a solid point guard.
Sessions was a solid if not spectacular option for the Lakers in his short tenure with the team, averaging 12.7 points and 6.2 assists per game.
The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets are probably Sessions' most likely destinations, but any team with a need at point guard should at least knock on his door.
