Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Landing RVP Would Ensure EPL Title
While Manchester United has not been a major player in the race for Robin Van Persie, the Red Devils would lock up the English Premier League title if they could pair the Dutchman with Wayne Rooney.
Dan King of the Sun reported that “sources insist Fergie remains in the hunt for Van Persie after the Dutchman refused to extend his deal with the Gunners.”
Van Persie scored 30 Premier League goals and recorded nine assists in Premiership matches which accounted for 53 percent of Arsenal’s league-scoring output.

No player meant more to his team last season than RVP did for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger will certainly be keen to hold on to his star striker, but Van Persie’s feelings towards his club appear to be lukewarm.
As King noted, Van Persie did not wish to extend his contract, while both Manchester City and Juventus have shown significant interest, as noted by Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph.
Wilson notes that these two clubs’ bids are in the ballpark of £15- £20 million. If United fully commits to the bidding, the competition could cause the price to go up.
Van Persie is 29 years old, and Ferguson almost never likes to drop a large transfer fee on a player that old.
However, he showed the willingness to do so in 2008 with a £30.75 million splash on Dimitar Berbatov, who was 27 at the time.
Spending that kind of cash on Van Persie would almost certainly yield better results than the Berbatov buy.
Van Persie was the best player in England last season and is one of the most gifted strikers in the world. With him and Rooney paired up top, the Red Devils would have two dangerously lethal finishers.
The team tied on points with Manchester City at the top of the table but lost out on the league championship because of goal differential. A monster signing like Van Persie would put them over the top this coming season.
Ferguson should continue on his current course and closely monitor the situation. The second Arsenal is ready to sell; he must be ready with a bid.
If he pulls off this deal, United will be at the top of the table once again after the 2012-13 season.
