Top Five Pacers of the World
In this fast moving world, these guys thrill us and chill us. We love watching them bowl, but somewhere inside we are happy we never face them. Yes, I am talking about fast bowlers.
So let's see who are those bowlers that the batsmen fear the most.
Dale Steyn
This guy is going at the rate of five wickets/Test match and that's after his career did not start so well. I don't think I need to go into how the speed gun reacts when he bowls. This man is definitely the most threatening bowler in world cricket. His ODI figures don't show this currently, but he has definitely improved.
He swings the ball into the right-hander and once in a while moves it away too. Speed and swing, is a deadly combo
Zaheer Khan
Not as much speed, but that doesn't mean he is a pushover. He made a come back into the Indian team about two-and-a- half years back and has been the spearhead since. He has mastered the art of reverse swing and we saw his best against Australia last year. He is also a good mentor to the new crop of Indian pacers.
Mitchell Johnson
He is not even 20 tests old and is the current spearhead of the Aussie bowling camp. He has shown he is capable. This guy also knows his bowling style well. This means Australia has a fairly mature bowler who will last a few years. He has got pace as well as height. So that's a double bonus.
He is the only bowler who troubled Indian batsmen regularly when other bowlers only managed to contain them at best.
Ishant Sharma
He is the fastest Indian bowler so far. He also has got good control. His slower balls have provided crucial breakthroughs and his swing has troubled the best. The only thing he has to learn is to be consistent. He really gets whacked at times. However, he still has time to learn and he has Venkatesh Prasad as his bowling coach, who will ensure he matures into a great bowler.
The fifth position is taken by many. This position belongs to those who play crucial roles with their bowling, but haven't proved themselves the best.
Nathan Bracken is one. He has great control and contains the batsmen well in toe one day game, but hasn't taken many wickets. That is why he is not in the test side
Andrew Flintoff is another. He does fine in the ODI's but has to start picking up more wickets in the test matches.
Stuart Broad as well. He is also not so good in the test matches
There are many more like these. These are just three examples. Counting them is like typing practice.
