WWE Money in the Bank 2012: Start Time, Live Streaming and PPV Info

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

After a wild month that featured a meteoric rise by AJ, continued dominance by Big Show and John Cena stepping out on a limb to participate in his first Money in the Bank match, it's finally time to see where all these storylines are heading.

Money in the Bank has quickly developed into one of the best pay-per-views of the year for the WWE. That's mostly because of the thrilling ladder matches, both of which will help shape the direction of Raw and SmackDown heading into SummerSlam.

Despite all of the star power on the card, nobody enters the show with more momentum than AJ. The diminutive Diva has stolen the spotlight from CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, making her the most important female wrestler in a long time.

Main Event Preview and Prediction

The trend of WWE champion CM Punk getting pushed down the card appears likely to continue with the inclusion of Cena in the Raw MITB match. Even though it's been awhile since he's held a title, he's still the company's top draw.

He'll battle with three other former champions in Big Show, Chris Jericho and Kane for the right to a WWE title contract. It's not the typical setup for this type of match, which usually lends itself to rising stars and high-fliers, but the new route is intriguing.

As for who will win, it really comes down to Cena and Big Show, in my opinion. Although Jericho is always entertaining, he hasn't been billed like a champion recently. The same goes for Kane, whose return with the mask hasn't been as successful as many hoped.

Big Show has been a lot more entertaining lately with his new gimmick, but did lose to Cena last month at No Way Out. So that leads me to believe the Cenation leader will come out on top.

It's been nearly 10 months since he last held the WWE Championship, so he's due for another run and winning the briefcase will be the first step.

Prediction: John Cena

What They're Saying

WWE.com did a statistical breakdown on some of the most interesting facts about the Money in the Bank matches, which began seven years ago.

"

Counting this year’s participants, there have been a total of 88 Superstars who have vied for Money in the Bank supremacy, a list that includes two WWE Hall of Famers and a Who’s Who of WWE Champions.

"

AJ will have her moment in the spotlight on Sunday night and used Twitter to send out a message to her growing number of followers:

"

So tired but can't sleep due to a thousand thoughts running through my head. If only counting sheep worked and I didn't fear farm animals.

Undercard Match to Watch: CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

It's the feud diehard wrestling fans have been looking forward to ever since CM Punk and Bryan started making their way up the WWE ladder last summer. They are two of the best in-ring workers in the business and they show it in every match.

The key will be AJ. Will she choose a side and impact the outcome of the match or refuse to decide between the two and just call it down the middle? A swerve of some kind remains a distinct possibility after one of the craziest storylines in recent memory.

Ultimately, I think CM Punk will walk out of Phoenix with the title one way or another. He's had an extended title reign and at this point they should just let him carry the belt into SummerSlam, one of the year's marquee events.

Prediction: CM Punk

Which Star Will WWE Bury? Kane

Kane has really been trending in the wrong direction over the past few weeks. The fact that he teamed with Cena during a tag team match on Raw would make it seem like he's undergoing a face turn. But in reality, it seems like he just doesn't have a direction.

Not only does that make it highly unlikely he'll win the MITB match, but it probably means he'll be an afterthought for most of it while the other three superstars clash. It would be a true shocker if Kane earned the briefcase.

It's a disappointing turn of events because the masked Kane character had a lot of potential if he would have received a better build. Instead, he's back to getting booked like he was without the mask, and that's just not very exciting.

Star Unaccounted For: Brodus Clay

Just when it appeared Clay was starting to build up some momentum toward a meaningful push, he gets left off the card again. The "Funkasaurus" picked up three straight pay-per-view victories and even made a WrestleMania appearance.

His extended winning streak was ended a couple weeks ago by Big Show, a sign that Clay's gimmick is quickly losing steam. Unless he's a late addition to the show on Sunday night, it would be another setback for the athletic big man.

The danger with building a superstar up with a succession of squash matches is that eventually, the fans become bored. At that point, the company has to decide whether to give them a true push or abandon the plan, and Clay is in serious danger of the latter.
