MLB 2012: Predicting the 6 Top Performers in the All-Star Game
The All-Star Game is quickly approaching on July 10th in Kansas City and each team is packed with star performers.
Most of the players participating have brought in more excitement and more fans to the MLB this season. And this All-Star game will be no different.
With their incredible talents and heavy media attention, there are six top players who will outperform the rest in the 2012 All-Star Game.
AL: Robinson Cano
1 of 6Robinson Cano has quickly made his name in New York, as well as in the MLB.
The fairly young player has solidified his role on the Yankees as a strong second baseman with incredible hitting abilities.
Cano has racked up 57 runs, 51 RBI and 20 home runs. And he definitely knows how to put on a show. Cano won the Home Run Derby last year with 32 home runs.
Cano’s high profile and exciting play will make him a top performer in this year’s All-Star Game.
AL: Yu Darvish
2 of 6Yu Darvish is already entering the All-Star Game with some excitement. He was added to the roster by a final vote from fans.
The 25-year-old All-Star is the starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers who have led the AL West for the majority of the season. Darvish holds a 10-5 record and 3.59 ERA.
Darvish also boasts an impressive nine home runs so far this season. Not bad for a pitcher.
Darvish will live up to his votes and bring some heat to the mound.
AL: Mike Trout
3 of 6As Jon Paul Morosi from foxsports.com has said, “baseball has become younger” with the talents of Mike Trout and his National League counterpart, Bryce Harper.
The game has become much more exciting with more home runs, quick hits and dazzling field plays.
Trout has shown all the qualities of an All-Star...and he’s only 20 years old.
Trout starts off the Los Angeles Angels’ lineup at bat and has produced 57 runs and 12 home runs so far.
Having Trout and Harper on opposing sides will be a sight to see.
NL: Chipper Jones
4 of 6It was only appropriate that Chipper Jones should make it to the All-Star Game one last time before he retires at the end of this season.
The eight-time All-Star has been a strong leader for the Atlanta Braves and a respectable player in the National League.
The third baseman is a consistent player for the Braves and a critical part of the team's starting lineup.
Expect Jones to make his last All-Star Game appearance one to remember.
NL: Bryce Harper
5 of 6Bryce Harper made a surprising and sudden entry into the All-Star Game, replacing Giancarlo Stanton. Harper will definitely be a top performer because that’s just what he does.
His talent and cool demeanor bring entertainment to the field. The young showstopper made his debut to the major leagues in late April and has already put up outstanding numbers.
Harper is going into the second half of the season with 43 runs and eight home runs under his belt. He also has 25 RBI and has displayed big plays in left field.
Fans come to the ballpark to see Harper perform and the All-Star Game will be no different.
NL: Melky Cabrera
6 of 6The National League team features a good number of San Francisco Giants players. All are deserving of the distinction and Melky Cabrera is no different.
The left fielder is critical to the Giants’ batting lineup.
So far this season Cabrera has 55 runs, 44 RBI and eight home runs.
This will be Cabrera’s first All-Star Game of his career and he’s sure to make it count.
