Be Pathetic: Tag Teams That Need a Reality Check
So...I was watching SmackDown while I was waiting to go to work. I happen to catch a glimpse of the tag team match between The Colons and The Dirt Sheet. Once again, The Miz and John Morrison won. For those who are upset about the fact that John Cena never loses, John Cena lost last night.
When is the last time that The Dirt Sheet actually lost their titles?
Here's your answer: Night of Champions to a mediocre team known as The Edgeheads. Since then, they have been World Tag Team Champions when they won the gold from CM Punk and Kofi Kingston during a House Show in Canada several months ago. Since then, they've only lost one match as a tag team. They lost to Cryme Tyme...then defeated them to retain the tag team titles the following week on RAW.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
So I compiled a list of tag teams that just need to break up and become singles competitors...like yesterday.
The Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson
Ezekiel Jackson has all the knowledge and power to become a World Champion in the WWE. He has already proven that he is dominating force when he's in the ring. But there is one thing holding him back from securing a championship:
His "handler" The Brian Kendrick.
Kendrick flaunts to the ring after raiding Michael Jackson's closet, gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter and then gets saved by "his man 'Zeke." This union has run its course. There's no passion. No charisma. No true future. Hear me when I say this: Brian Kendrick will never be World Champion.
Ezekiel Jackson, however, can be champion.
This duo may have been good...for about five seconds. But as it has been proven in the past, the only reason Kendrick is winning matches is because of the intimidating X-Factor that is stalking BK's opponent from ringside. Drop Kendrick and give Jackson the push that he rightfully deserves.
William Regal and Layla
This may not seem like a good tag team, but where exactly is the chemistry between these two Brits? We see good chemistry with The Burchills, who also happen to be from Merry Ol' England. But we have yet to see the true chemistry between the Diva Search winner and the Blackpool native.
So why are we forced to see these two continue to strut down to the ring?
It was shown last week that they have no real on screen chemistry. That is why CM Punk became Intercontinental Champion. That is why Regal lost last week in quick fashion. And this is why it is time to let Layla El become her own Diva. She's been groomed by one of the best in William Regal.
It's time for her to go out and compete for either the Women's or Divas Championship.
As for Regal, he should start taking his career seriously and fight for the a truly major championship. Punk became the World Heavyweight Champion, something Regal hasn't done. Since then, Punk has become a member of the Triple Crown Club, while Regal has just been going under the radar since his return from suspension.
Kofi Kingston & Rey Mysterio
Even though there are good vibes from this tag tandem, having this team break it off would make a pretty impressive one on one match. If everyone remembers, Mysterio had a great (however short) tag tandem with Evan Bourne for a brief period, and when the two faced off in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, it was a huge high flying encounter.
Now it's time to separate these two, just in time for Wrestlemania. Having both of them in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match would be a fitting ending to the tag team, but not the friendship.
There isn't much bad to say about these two, but the way Kingston was robbed of his chance to be World Heavyweight Champion last night is living proof that the WWE has no idea how to run with its young talent.
Main Event Mafia
This so-called faction has officially run its course. Now it's become an inside man situation. Sting is on the outside looking in, while Kurt Angle's Legacy and integrity has been brought into question by the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
As I wrote a few weeks ago, the Mafia may consist of World Champions, but let's be honest: With the exception of Sting, all of those guys sucked as World Champions. Booker's reigns have become nothing more than a footnote in the alums of WCW. Steiner will always be remembered as the "other" half of one of the greatest tag teams in professional wrestling. Nash will always be remembered as nothing more than a sidekick to The Cliq.
And Angle? He may be a Gold Medalist, but he really sucks as a true World Champion. During his stints as Champion, did anyone really take him seriously? He was nothing more than a punching bag to the likes of Brock Lesnar, The Rock and shockingly enough, Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton.
But Sting is the epitome of a true World Champion. He is the original Ultimate Underdog. He defeated the likes of Vader, Lex Luger, Rick Rude, even two WWE Hall of Famers (Hulk Hogan and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair).
If this faction officially ends, it will be because Sting is ready to regain the respect he once had...and he still has that respect in my opinion.
And last, and certainly least...
The Dirt Sheet (The Shaman of Stupidity and The Guy Magnet)
No matter what anyone says, these two are not good for business. What is the point of having teams battle these two only to know that they will lose? Why have Cryme Tyme beat them one week and lose to them in the tag title match the following week? Why have The Colons (who happen to be WWE Tag Team Champions) lose every encounter they have with the World Tag Team Champions?
As singles competitors, they were both successful. Morrison had a pretty impressive run as ECW Champion, while Miz was proving his Chick Magnet status by being flanked by the now defunct Extreme Expose.
But this team has become nothing more than the Poster Children for what you do when you're on MTV and WCW. Remember that Mike Mizanin was a part of both Real World and Road Rules. He was also the runner up for the last Tough Enough competition, and he found success where Daniel Puder became nothing more than a footnote.
As for Morrison, he was the original Gopher (sorry Chavo). He was Eric Bischoff's errand boy when EB was GM of RAW. He then had an impressive run as one half of MNM. Their storyline rivalry with Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio was one of many great storylines for Morrison. But in all honesty, it is because of Morrison that Miz still has a job.
The little spike haired MTV Troll Doll can't wrestle as good as most. His outfits make him more of a backup dancer for the Backstreet Boys or old school New Kids on the Block. Even his timing on Morrison's slow-mo entrance has been off practically every single time. The WWE has this thought in their heads that these two are good for business. The only reason that they're brought out is because the demographics show that women tune in more when one or the other are shown.
But why are we forced to see these two rejects from Disney's High School Musical win every single time?
To make this a legitimate thing, capitalize on their backstage argument from January. When they had a little couples argument about the battle royal during ECW. They had something going, but instead decided to keep the duo together. So I ask it again: Why keep teams fighting these two if they're going to lose.
Memo to WWE: Make them lose, or give us a reason to continue watching the screen when these two come on.
Because right now, you're perception on what you think is good just plain sucks.
Be Jealous? Wrong answer. I say to The Dirt Sheet and to the WWE Writers who claim that these two are good for business: Be Pathetic.
