LSU Football Recruiting: Offensive Playmakers Les Miles Would Love to Add

Jake MartinJun 6, 2018

The LSU Tigers' recruiting class improved dramatically with the addition of tight end DeSean Smith, and with the addition of a few more offensive playmakers, LSU's recruiting class could become one of the best in the nation.

The Tigers are drawing in great offensive linemen in Ethan Poicic and Josh Boutte along with other great recruits like athlete John Diarse and wide receiver Tre'Davious White. Such commitments have ranked the Tigers third on Rivals' top recruiting classes of 2013 and No. 11 on ESPN's.

With the Tigers already sporting an impressive recruiting class, they are only a few offensive targets away from putting them over the top.

James Quick

1 of 5

LSU is in the running for talented wide receiver James Quick, and that should excite Tiger fans.

Quick is a 6'0", 180-pound receiver who is exactly what his last name suggests—quick. Quick has the attributes to be a versatile playmaker in open space. As a result, he is receiving offers from pretty much every major university around the country. Playing high school at Trinity High in Louisville, Ky., Quick has turned heads by his play on the field, rather than the basketball court.

With his body frame and speed, Quick somewhat resembles Russell Shepard and could be a solid replacement for the senior wide receiver should LSU get him to commit.

If Quick does choose LSU, let's hope the Tigers use him more effectively than they used Shepard.

Brian Bridgewater

Brian Bridgewater is a dual sport athlete who played at Episcopal High School in LSU's backyard.

As good as Bridgewater is on the football field, he's even more valuable on the basketball court. Receiving offers from Baylor and Oklahoma, Bridgewater is regarded as a four-star basketball recruit.

But the Tigers could use his 6'6", 220-pound frame on the gridiron. The Tigers' biggest weakness on offense, if you can even call it a weakness, is their lack of size at the receiver position.

They don't have a big, physical receiver to threaten near the goal line per say, but they could change that next year by adding a player with the size and athleticism of Bridgewater.

Rickey Jefferson

3 of 5

Les Miles needs to reel in one of Louisiana's best catches—Destrehan's Rickey Jefferson.

Jordan Jefferson's brother, Rickey, is thankfully not a quarterback. Rather, he's a talented receiver who possesses great speed.

Dandydon.com, which has been covering LSU's recruiting for several years, has Jefferson listed as the third best prospect in the state of Louisiana for 2013.

Jefferson's speed and elusive moves have received interest from around the country, but with LSU having his brother play there for four years, it should give the Tigers the inside track. But then again, because of how he was received by the fans, that could be a bad thing.

Stacy Coley

4 of 5

Stacy Coley is an electrifying playmaker who can create something out of nothing.

Coley is a 6'1", 173-pound wide receiver from Northeast High School in Florida. The young prospect has great hands, solid speed and has the ability to go up and get the football.

So you can see why teams like Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU are so interested in him. ESPN has Coley No. 34 in its Top 150, so obviously he's impressed scouts around the nation.

Adding a player like Coley to the offense would give the Tigers another playmaker on the outside, which would help add another dimension to LSU's sometimes stagnant offense.

Ricky Seals-Jones

5 of 5

With a class that has insurmountable talent at the wide receiver position, Ricky Seals-Jones makes a solid case for best prospect.

Seals-Jones is a five-star athlete from Sealy High School in Texas, and he already looks like a future NFL player.

At 6'5", 220-pounds, Seals-Jones looks like a man among boys at the high school level. Seals-Jones' athleticism saw him play the quarterback position at Sealy, and from there he would simply receive the snap and make large, gaping runs down the field.

Seals-Jones is a prospect that coaches dream about, and if Les MIles could sway him to Baton Rouge, he could create one of the deadliest duos in college football with Odell Beckham.
