Home Run Derby 2012: Start Time, Live Stream, TV Schedule and More
New York Yankees superstar second baseman Robinson Cano will attempt to defend his Home Run Derby championship from last season against a talented field of Major League Baseball's best sluggers on Monday night.
Cano pounded out 32 long balls in last year's event, narrowly edging out Adrian Gonzalez from the rival Boston Red Sox. Gonzalez's teammate David Ortiz won the contest two years ago, also with a total score of 32 homers.
The competition will start with eight hitters. The lowest four scores are eliminated after the first round. The final four get another chance to hit and the bottom two, based on a combination of the first two rounds, are out. Then the scores reset for the finals.

Preview
Sleeper: Mark Trumbo
Trumbo has showcased an astonishing amount of raw power during his first two full seasons in the league. He was one of last year's breakout stars with 29 home runs for the Angeles, and he's already added 20 more to his career total in 2012.
The one underrated aspect of the Derby is the pressure on the top guys. Cano and Kemp will be feeling a little extra heat since they were the team captains. The same goes for a prolific slugger like Bautista, who had a disappointing performance last year.
That works to Trumbo's advantage because he's flying under the radar. Since the competition plays right to his strengths and he can avoid the spotlight at the beginning, he's capable of making a deep run and potentially even win it all.
Predicted Winner: Prince Fielder
Fielder will be making his fourth Home Run Derby appearance, two more than anybody else in the field, and that experience definitely helps. He won it three years ago in St. Louis by outlasting Nelson Cruz in the final round.
It hasn't been a typical Fielder season at the halfway mark. He's hit just 13 homers, putting him on pace to have his lowest output in that category since 2005 when he played just 39 games. That's not what the Tigers were expecting when they signed him to a mega-deal.
A strong showing in the Derby would be exactly what the doctor ordered. It would give him the boost of confidence he needs to have a dominant second half and get the Tigers back on track toward the playoffs after being considered a lock before the season began.
