MLB All-Star Voting Results: Top MVP Candidates for 83rd Midsummer Classic
The world's best baseball players will descend upon Kansas City next week, but only one will leave with the coveted MVP trophy.
The rosters for the 83rd Midsummer Classic were announced Sunday, and as expected, they feature the most dangerous sluggers in the game. Josh Hamilton was the leading vote-getter, smashing the all-time record by receiving over 11 million votes.
Last year's MVP, Prince Fielder, was also voted into the starting lineup. He has switched teams and leagues this season, but he will still be a viable candidate to take home the top individual award. The following players will be his biggest threat to a repeat.

10 Scorching MLB Takes 🌶️

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Joey Votto: 1B, Cincinnati Reds
The smooth-swinging Votto has established himself as one of the best hitters in the game, and no one should be surprised if he wins the MVP on July 10.
Votto has strung together another incredible season in the National League, currently ranking in the top 10 of most major batting categories. He's fourth in average (.350), ninth in runs (50), and first in walks (60), slugging percentage (.632) and OPS (1.103).
He's also racked up 93 hits and 14 home runs on the season. If the NL wins next Tuesday, it will likely be because Votto delivered a few clutch hits.
Robinson Cano: 2B, New York Yankees
Cano has had plenty of success in past All-Star Game festivities, winning the 2011 home run derby. Now, he will look to add to his hardware collection by earning the MVP trophy.
Like Votto, Cano is crushing pitchers this season. Among American League batters, Cano currently ranks 10th in average (.308), seventh in home runs (20), fourth in runs (54), fourth in slugging percentage (.582) and fifth in OPS (.952).
If he can connect on a few pitches and play some solid defense, he could be the first second baseman to win the MVP since Roberto Alomar in 1998.
Josh Hamilton: CF, Texas Rangers
The leading vote-getter is also the best hitter in the game and the most likely candidate to win the 2012 All-Star MVP award.
Hamilton has dominated the American League this season, driving in 73 runs and hitting 25 home runs thus far. He's also in the top 10 in numerous other categories, ranking sixth in average (.319), sixth in runs (51) first in slugging percentage (.652) and first in OPS (1.038).
Look for Hamilton to add to his impressive list of accomplishments by winning the MVP in his fifth career All-Star Game.
