Award Time: NBA Postseason Plaudits Preview
NBA AWARD TIME:
It is time to start talking about the NBA Awards.
Every year around this time the great debate on who should be the MVP and which rookie had the most impact on this year starts up. Which coach had the biggest impact? Was it the guy who had the most wins, or the guy who battled the most intangibles and was able to push his team into the playoffs?
MVP:
Lets start at the top. I have just recently read this article about LeBron on Bleacher Report, and I really don't think the writer could be more on target.
LeBron is the reason for the Cleveland Cavs season.
LeBron is Santa Claus and as we all know, without Santa there really is not much reason for us to wake up on Christmas Morning.
Without King James the Cavs would be battling Miami for worst in the league, hands down.
He not only scores at will, but his assist totals are incredible. Comparisons to Jordan will go on for years, but if he keeps up at this pace, he may end up better than His Airness.
James made it to the finals by himself last year and makes every player around him better. Enough said, LeBron wins!
Honorable Mentions: Chris Paul and Steve Nash
Defensive Player of the Year:
I really hope this award does not go to Marcus Camby. He does not deserve it.
It's too close to call but I would hand it out to Bruce Bowen. He does not get enough credit for shutting down the biggest threats in basketball night in and night out. Why do the Spurs win championships?
Because of people like Bruce Bowen.
Honorable Mention: Raja Bell
Coach of the Year:
Oh Mr. Jackson, where have you been for the past four years?
You never left you say?
You never forgot how to coach you say?
Well welcome back to the NBA, and congratulations on posting a heck of a year with the Lakers, who at the beginning of the year had nobody good enough to play alongside Kobe.
You made this team good before you acquired Pau Gasol. You did this, not Kobe. You made Kobe forget.
Honorable Mention: Isiah Thomas... Just kidding
Comeback Player of the Year:
Chris Kaman on a bad LA Clippers team is the only bright spot. Unfortunately they have taken a huge step back from last years playoff run. They must implode now, but Chris is something to build around.
Honorable Mention: Hedo Turkoglu
Rookie of the year:
Kevin Durant, hands down.
Too bad Greg Oden didn't get to play this year.
Honorable Mention: Kevin Durant
6th Man:
Leandro Barbosa brings an intensity to the game that no one in the league can match. Stats aside, this guy must be rewarded. There are about twenty games left, and I think this will show even more in the remaining games.
Honorable Mention: Manu Ginobili
