WWE Stables: Wade Barrett Should Re-Form Nexus When He Returns from Injury

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 2, 2018

Wade Barrett was on his way up in the ranks of WWE before an unfortunate elbow injury sidelined him for several months.

With his return date getting closer, it is very likely that the creative team has been working on how to bring the British brawler back in the fray.

When Barrett first graced our television screens, he was one of the rookies competing on the inaugural season of NXT.

He won that season and went on to create one of the most memorable moments of the year when he and all the other rookies stormed Raw the following week and proceeded to tear apart everything from John Cena to the ring apron.

This stable was unique because all of the people in it were newer stars—instead of the traditional stables in which there are a mix of new and old stars.

When the faction began to show some cracks in its foundation, the storylines began to get weaker, and eventually, the group split, with the second group calling themselves The Corre.

Once this was all in the past, Wade Barrett was in a state of limbo until he entered into a feud with Randy Orton.

Together they put on some amazing matches and promos that made for great television. In fact, their feud was more entertaining that the World Title feud at the time.

Barrett has been solo for quite some time now, but his return could be the WWE's chance to create another high-quality stable.

If Barrett were to come back and re-form Nexus, it would allow him to still pursue a title while also helping to get over a few newer stars.

There are plenty of people who could benefit from being in a stable run by Barrett, including some former Nexus members.

Heath Slater is little more than a punching bag for WWE legends these days, and re-forming Nexus might be the only thing that can help his waning career in WWE.

The people who could benefit the most are some of the newer stars in WWE. Guys like Antonio Cesaro, who has not been seen more than once in the past couple of weeks, would fit right in with Barrett's brawler style.

Tensai could be used as an enforcer for the group, while a tag team like Epico and Primo could help to round out the entire group.

WWE used to use stables as a way of giving some of their superstars something to do while they did not have a singular plan for them, and with today's roster growing faster than it is shrinking, it might be time to go back to that way of thinking.

Barrett is very good on the mic and even better in the ring, so having him be the natural leader of a new, re-formed Nexus would look more legitimate than when he was still fresh to the audience.

Stables have slowly been going the way of the Dodo, and Wade Barrett is the perfect person to help usher back a time of partnerships and mob mentality among the heels of WWE.
