Wisconsin Football: Latest Summer News and Recruiting Updates
Wisconsin had another 11-win season last year and is looking to once again be one of the better teams in the Big Ten.
They return a total of 11 starters and have the workhorse running back Montee Ball once again in the backfield. They also have a recruiting class coming in that includes 12 talented players from the 2012 class.
Despite limited scholarships to hand out in 2013, Wisconsin has already received 10 early commitments, including a future star in wide receiver Rob Wheelwright. With a few more players the Badgers can pick up, now is not the time for Wisconsin to sit back and get comfortable.
Here are some of the latest updates for your Wisconsin Badgers in the 2013 recruiting process.
Wisconsin Picks Up Matt Miller
1 of 5The most recent Wisconsin commitment comes from offensive lineman Matt Miller. At 6'4", 245 pounds, Miller has the ability to play either side of the ball. He is a strong player, uses his hands well and has solid footwork.
Despite just recently receiving an offer from the Badgers, Miller said it was the right decision to commit early.
"I thought about it the last couple days and it felt really right to me. The school and the program and Madison and the whole thing, I don't think anyone really has a negative thing to say about it. It just felt like it was the right place to me. (Via Scout.com)

The 3-star recruit also had offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Miami and Cincinnati, among others.
Tra'von Chapman Nearing a Decision
2 of 5While Wisconsin is still trying to find its quarterback for the 2013 class, Tra'von Chapman is getting ready to announce which school he will attend. It is down to Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, and he will make his decision on July 1.
Many believe that the Panthers are the front-runners for his services, especially with former Badgers offensive coordinator, Paul Chryst, now the head coach at Pittsburgh.
"(Pitt) feels pretty much like friends or family because I'm not really getting to know them anymore," Chapman told Chris Peak of Panther-lair.com. "I know them all pretty well and I feel pretty comfortable with all of them."
We will find out soon enough, but the Badgers may still be searching for a quarterback as we get deeper into the recruiting process.
Badgers in David Williams' Top 10
3 of 5One of the top running backs of the 2013 class is David Williams. He has good size at 6'1", 191 pounds and a great combination of speed and power. He can also be a factor as a receiver, as he has great hands.
He has received an offer from nearly every top school in the country but has recently trimmed that list down to just 10 schools.
“It’s an unofficial top 10,” Williams said. “It’s Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, South Carolina, Arizona State, California, Tennessee and Nebraska.” (Via Scout.com)
Wilson has already visited a few of those schools and plans to check out a few more as well. Expect the Badgers to get their shot, as it does not appear a decision is coming anytime soon.
Marcus Ball Likes Wisconsin
4 of 5Marcus Ball has several offers on the table and is in the process of trying to eliminate a few of them while schools are trying to find out exactly what position he plays.
He has good size at 6'3", 205 pounds and has the ability to play either the safety position or quarterback. Most recruiting sites have listed him as a defensive player, but in high school last season, he threw for over 1,000 yards, rushed for 500 and scored 16 touchdowns.
Marcus is the brother of Ray Ball, an offensive lineman for the Badgers, so it is only right that he is heavily considering the Badgers.
"I probably have the best feel for Wisconsin because of my brother. Coach Azzanni has been recruiting me for a while now. The new coaches are on board with what they are doing. They are hardworking coaches. The tradition behind Wisconsin won’t change at all. It’s still a good program. A great program and still has the same head coach. It’s a school that is going to keep winning. (Via Scout.com)

Other schools that are sticking out to the 3-star recruit include Arizona State, Illinois, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Penn State.
Kenton Gibbs Stops by
5 of 5Kenton Gibbs is a 3-star defensive tackle who is currently committed to Illinois, although that hasn't stopped him from looking at other schools. He recently stopped by Wisconsin and really enjoyed the trip.
"No, I didn't camp," Gibbs explained. "I just went up there to take a visit. Everything's great. Everything on the visit is great so far. We just got to look around the facilities, weight room and all that." (Via Scout.com)
Gibbs says he is just exploring his options and is still committed to Illinois, despite also scheduling a visit with Ohio State on July 9. He is a 6'1", 280-pound player who can play either side of the ball, uses his hands well and gets off the line quickly.
