WWE: Why Vince McMahon Needs Brock Lesnar on TV Now
Vince McMahon needs Brock Lesnar on television right now.
This isn’t an issue of star power and storylines. They’ve done everything they can with their everyday players.
However, a certain storyline has been on a topsy-turvy roller coaster. The feud between Lesnar and Triple H has been manageable thanks to Paul Heyman’s involvement.
Heyman is not Brock Lesnar, and many fans want to see Lesnar back in the ring with more than just an appearance.
Despite the limited number of appearances Lesnar has on his schedule, he is still a draw.
Every time fans hear Lesnar’s music and Heyman appears instead, disappointment sums up their reaction.
Now it appears Lesnar will return next week. Many things ride on Lesnar’s next WWE appearance.
Next week’s rumored appearance will solve many problems.
Ratings
1 of 5Ratings are and will forever be a concern for the WWE.
When Lesnar first returned, the second quarter-hour drew over five million viewers.
Lesnar made an immediate impact, though ratings may have steadily declined.
The preliminary buyrate for Extreme Rules, Lesnar’s first WWE appearance in eight years, drew over 250,000 viewers.
The number may be low and not what WWE expected. Surprisingly, 40,000 more viewers tuned in to this show vs. last year’s show.
Lesnar’s comeback made an impact. Why not keep him on TV?
The Lesnar/Triple H Saga
2 of 5The latest storyline between Triple H and Brock Lesnar has certainly dragged on long enough.
It’s been three months since Lesnar broke Triple H’s arm. Since then, it’s been a battle of words between Paul Heyman and Triple H.
Both have done admirable work in keeping the feud alive, but both have also appeared on TV sparingly.
Now, it’s the time for the payoff. The storyline needs a Lesnar appearance.
Plus, the interaction between Lesnar and Triple H should not disappoint fans, especially leading up to SummerSlam.
Huge Draw
3 of 5Lesnar is a big draw everywhere and anywhere.
The former WWE champion and UFC Heavyweight champion headlined pay-per-views in both leagues.
Lesnar was the main event at Wrestlemania 19 in a wrestling war with Kurt Angle. He also headlined numerous UFC showings against Shane Carwin, Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez.
Lesnar helped make both companies successful. He brought fire while competing for WWE and notoriety for the UFC Heavyweight Division.
Brock Lesnar is a prestigious name and draw anywhere. It makes no sense to keep Lesnar off TV.
SummerSlam Hype and History
4 of 5It seems inevitable for the Triple H/Brock Lesnar match to occur at SummerSlam.
It would also make sense to hype up their ongoing confrontation now instead of later.
Even though SummerSlam is nine weeks away, the time to bring Lesnar back is now.
Just about 10 years ago, Brock Lesnar competed in his first WWE main event. He defeated The Rock for the undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2002.
That’s enough hype for Lesnar’s long-awaited return. Bear in mind that Lesnar and Triple H have never fought one-on-one.
This feud needs more fuel than advertised. Returning Lesnar to the wrestling ring will incite his grudge with Triple H.
Win-Win Situation
5 of 5All in all, no one loses if Lesnar returns to television.
The WWE would be happy if Lesnar shows up for a number a reasons.
Fans are happy because Lesnar’s back. Management will surely rejoice at Lesnar’s return. Lesnar’s appearance will be talked about and blown up to new heights in everything from sports shows to social media.
Lesnar’s return will draw more viewers to Raw and Smackdown.
Lesnar brings a boost to an already talent-heavy lineup, including CM Punk and John Cena.
All Vince McMahon has to do is let Lesnar loose.
