St. Louis Rams Need an Impact Player Not a Project
The St. Louis Rams, as many other NFL teams are preparing for the scouting combines in the next few weeks. As they look at the players of tomorrow, I would ask them to think of one thing.
Is Donny Avery your starting number one wide reciever?
Because it is apparent that Torry Holt is not the player he once was. There has even been talk in some corners that the Rams are shopping Holt and Orlando Pace.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If the Rams want to clean house and start fresh, taking the lumps that come with that, I am able to live with that. However, Orlando Pace did not walk off the the draft stage into being one of the best tackles in football.
This years draft is full of good tackles, a couple could possibly be a good replacement for Pace. However, it is difficult to say that Andre Smith, Jason Smith, and many other options will be good enough to warrant a number two pick.
Personally, Michael Crabtree is where I would go. Avery is not going to be the go-to-guy for this offense.
Coach Spagnola said he wants to change the offensive mentality into a more run first team. Certainly a good OT is part of the equation. But there is a good OT already in free agency, Jordan Gross from Carolina.
A pro-bowler, prove commodity and a leader you want on your line.
Crabtree would excite the fans, he would be the kind of player who might resurrect the career of Mark Bulger. He will not go to Detroit as they already have enough wide receivers, so if he is there you take him.
The old adage is you take the best player available before you fill needs. I think that is especially true with a number two pick.
It is just too valuable to chance on a role player.
