Euro 2012 Scores: Germany Looks Like World-Beater vs. Greece
If you needed any more proof that Germany is a legitimate contender for the Euro 2012 title, there it was on Friday, when the Germans scored a convincing 4-2 victory over Greece to advance to the semifinals.
Four different players scored for Germany in their quarterfinal victory, and not one of them was Mario Gomez. That gives you an idea of how deep the Germans are this year. Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira and Marco Reus each scored, and Miroslav Klose netted his 64th career goal for the side, four behind Gerd Müller for the most in Germany's history (per Paul Carr, ESPN).

Germany is undefeated thus far in the Euro Championship and has now won 15 consecutive competitive matches. Beyond the spectacular Gomez and Bastian Schweinsteiger, you have a litany of impressive players, and the scary thing is they are all playing together as one.
What's even more concerning for the rest of the Euro 2012 competition is that the score could have been even grander versus Greece. Germany missed several opportunities in the first half, and ended up with 24 shots on the day. Fourteen of these shots were on target. That shows that Germany has the potential to blow teams out in the tournament, and may look even stronger in the semis.
The Germans have nine goals in the tournament thus far, tops among all competitors; they haven't given up more than two goals in any one match. They've also held possession for a combined 58 percent of the time, per UEFA.com (second in Euro 2012). They have the stars to win it all, and they have the chemistry.
Even more impressive was how Germany responded when the offensively inept Greeks tied up the match in the 55th minute. As quickly as the Greeks found second life, Germany sucked the life out of them, scoring three times in a span of 13 minutes. By the time Greece scored a desperation goal in the 89th minute, it was all over.
Spain may be the reigning champions, but defeating Germany this year is going to be mighty tough.
