WWE Chatter
There was certainly a ton of WWE-related content to talk about as No Way Out took place on Sunday. Sheamus retained against Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk held onto the WWE Championship against Daniel Bryan and Kane, and John Cena beat Big Show, resulting in John Laurinaitis being fired. All of that plus the backlash on RAW sparked some interesting debates.
Question on Everybody's Mind: What's next for the Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar feud?
Triple H made his return to WWE programming at No Way Out and as expected, he called out Brock Lesnar. The COO challenged Brock to a match at SummerSlam, but Lesnar didn't appear. Paul Heyman addressed Triple H's challenge on RAW and declined. This led to Triple H punching Heyman out. Now fans will have to wait and see how things play out.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
The panelists were all over the map on this issue, but the general consensus is that everyone is looking forward to this potential match. It's quite obvious that Lesnar will ultimately agree to the match, but it remains to be seen how it will happen. Heyman and Triple H should be able to keep things afloat with their impeccable mic work until the powers that be decide to bring Lesnar back into the public eye. Expect this feud to get a proper main event build leading up to SummerSlam.
Bleacher Report Insider Scoop: Will Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar Be WWE's Main Story?
Extreme Rising Interview with Jerry Lynn
Just a little over a week ahead of next weekend's Extreme Rising events in Corona, N.Y. and Philadelphia, Penn., Ring Rust Radio was lucky enough to speak with a true legend of the business in Jerry Lynn. He is one of the few wrestlers who has had the opportunity to work for every major promotion, but there is no doubt that he is best known for his time in ECW.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Jerry Lynn steal the show again?
The initial Extreme Reunion show in Philadelphia two months ago certainly had some hiccups, but Jerry Lynn's match against Crowbar was unquestionably one of the highlights. Lynn will be headlining both the June 29 and June 30 card against Matt Hardy and Homicide respectively, and figures to have a great chance at having the best match on the card on both nights.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
Lynn has made a habit of stealing the show over the course of his career, particularly in ECW, and he certainly had his moments in WWE, WCW, TNA and ROH as well. Even at the age of 49, Lynn is being trusted to be in some important main event matches for Extreme Rising and that is for good reason. Lynn claimed on the show that even though he is going to be retiring soon, he has a lot left to learn in the business. While that may be true, Lynn knows plenty about putting on classic matches and entertaining the fans.
Bleacher Report Insider Scoop: Latest WWE News and Rumors
ROH Interview with Roderick Strong
Ring of Honor World Television Champion Roderick Strong joined the Ring Rust Radio crew for a second time, and while living up to his first appearance was difficult, he exceeded expectations once again. Strong is the second Triple Crown champion in ROH history and has wrestled against some of the best in the business since joining ROH in 2003, so he had plenty of interesting things to say.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will the Ring Rust Radio rub strike yet another ROH star?
The Ring Rust Radio rub is something we talk about a lot on the show, but it is for good reason as every ROH star who comes on the show seems to rise to new heights afterward. That was the case with Strong a few months ago as he won the TV title from Jay Lethal at Showdown in the Sun on March 31. Now he will defend the strap against Lethal and Tommaso Ciampa in a three-way elimination match at Best in the World on Sunday in New York City.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
For nearly a decade, Strong has continually proven that he is one of the best in-ring workers ROH has ever seen, so there is little doubt that he will put on a fantastic match and is likely to retain the title as well. Strong will receive a stiff challenge from Lethal, who is an excellent worker in his own right, and Ciampa, who is an up-and-coming talent, but Strong is a grizzled vet who knows how to get the job done in tough situations. Strong will get the job done based on his own merits, but perhaps RRR lent a helping hand once again.
